Three Years In Focus: Studio 14’s Evolution—and the Women Who Shaped It

Back to Articles

Three years ago, I wrote my first article for this magazine and introduced Women in Focus—a portrait experience created to celebrate women in a way that feels safe, honest, elevated, and deeply personal. What I didn’t fully realize then is how much that project would become a compass for everything that followed: how I built, how I photographed, and how I invited people into my studio.

Since that first feature, Studio 14 has quietly transformed. Not in a trendy, constant-rebrand kind of way—but in the way a space evolves when it’s used for what it was meant for. The studio has become more comfortable, more intentional, and more versatile: a place where you can arrive, exhale, and let the pressure of “getting it right” disappear. It’s brighter. Cozier. Designed for modern portraiture—with room to create, to relax, and to make something timeless.

And for me, at the heart of it all is still Women in Focus. It’s not just a photo session; it’s a guided experience. We begin with consultation—style, story, and the feeling you want your portraits to carry. Some women want softness. Some want strength. Many want both. Hair and makeup are likely a part of the process, and the studio becomes a private space to step into a version of yourself you might not pause long enough to see in daily life. The result isn’t a “new you.” It’s you—beautifully revealed.

And while the women in front of my lens will remain my signature, that’s not the only story we tell here.

Studio 14 is also where families gather for portraits that feel like them—not stiff, not forced, not rushed. It’s where professionals come in for headshots that look confident and modern. It’s where couples are photographed with warmth and connection, and where seniors are celebrated for the bold, exciting in-between season they’re standing in.

If you’ve been following along since that first article, thank you. And a huge thank you to Luke and Delphine for the love and support over the last three years with Montrose Living. I look forward to our partnership growing in new ways, far beyond the pages of a magazine. You are my friends.

This studio has grown because the community has trusted me with its most meaningful moments—especially the women who stepped into Women in Focus and reminded all of us what it looks like to be seen. This isn’t goodbye – rather another hello. Come by and see me on Main Street. Let’s dream up something amazing together.
