For 67 seasons, Magic Circle Players has harnessed local volunteer talent to create transformative live theatre that entertains, engages, and builds community across Western Colorado. The 2026–2027 season is a testament to that enduring mission: seven compelling productions, three spectacular special events, and a renewed commitment to making the magic of live theatre accessible to all.

SEASON PRODUCTIONS

Five Main Stage productions anchor the season. Misery (Opens September 4, 2026), William Goldman’s chilling adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, opens the year as a rescued writer discovers his self-appointed “number one fan” harbors dangerously obsessive intentions — directed by Michelle Terry. Little Women: The Broadway Musical (Opens November 13, 2026) follows the beloved March sisters through love, heartache, and independence during the Civil War, directed by Lisa Rediger, assisted by Jamie Gann, with Music Director Jonathan Heath.

Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky (Opens January 8, 2027) celebrates astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who mapped the stars at Harvard in 1900 without receiving scientific credit, directed by Scott Pollak. Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple (Opens March 12, 2027) delivers timeless comedy as two mismatched divorced roommates test the limits of friendship, directed by John Lange and Janel Culver. Lionel Bart’s Oliver! (Opens May 7, 2027) closes the Main Stage with the Tony Award–winning Dickens adaptation following a young orphan’s search for family, directed by Allyson Crosby, Music Director Kenny Easton.

Two Readers Theatre productions round out the season. The Last Trial of Alfred Packer (October 2, 3 & 4, 2026) is an interactive drama set against the rugged San Juan Mountains — audiences don’t just watch the story unfold, they help decide its outcome — directed by Kenny and Jen Easton. The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play (April 2, 3 & 4, 2027), Joe Landry’s Hitchcock- inspired live radio play, sends Richard Hannay on a breathless chase across 1930s London to expose a spy ring and prove his innocence, directed by Casey Dukeman.

THREE SPECIAL EVENTS

These events are not included in Season or Patron Passes but offer even more theatrical delight. My Funny Valentine (February 4 – 8, 2027) returns as MCP’s beloved annual musical tradition — a fairytale journey of love, laughter, and sing-along choreography. Annie Jr. (June 10, 2027) brings the iconic, plucky little orphan to life in 1930s New York City. And the Sondheim Tribute Revue (July 30 – August 1, 2027), directed by Kathy Murdoch, is an unforgettable concert celebrating one of Broadway’s greatest composers.
