Growth is the hallmark of the season—everything turns up green, and wildflowers in every color of the rainbow decorate our roadways and yards. Baby deer take wobbling steps behind watchful does all over our town. It’s an annual explosion of new flora and fauna, a big part of what makes this community so special.

But this year, there’s even more growth occurring all around us.

Lake Travis and Dripping Springs, our next-door neighbors, are in the midst of significant growth, as well. And just as Lakeway touts “Well-managed growth is the hallmark of this upscale lakeside community” (www.lakeway-tx.gov/aboutlakeway). These two neighborhoods are thinking very deliberately about the way they grow, the amenities they will offer, and the homeowners they will attract.

Several new developments take a purposeful approach to environmentally sound development and living—notably Loraloma (Thomas Ranch), Lakeside at Tessera (Lago Vista), and the Canyon Club (Lake Travis). While Lakeside at Tessera offers “basically any activity that takes place under the sun and involves an appreciation of the great outdoors,” Loraloma approaches its development philosophically, respecting the natural beauty of the land and fostering a deeper connection with the environment.” The Canyon Club offers fractional ownership of 3D-printed homes, designed for “sustainable, durable, and energy-efficient luxury living.”

And for those who like their environment with 18 holes, there is no shortage of golf courses in the new developments. The Travis Club (Spicewood) offers a Beau Welling-designed course in addition to its 10,000 feet of Lake Travis frontage. Likewise, Loraloma boasts a David McLay Kidd-designed golf course, in addition to its riverfront park and wellness facilities.

Springtime is the season of growth…and hope. And while the past few seasons may have been fraught with uncertainty, this Spring celebrates the resilience of our region, providing opportunities to coexist with its beauty.

Spring growth in the Austin metro area is an annual delight, and this year brings even more than the typical burst of flowers and wildlife. Neighborhoods adjacent to Lakeway are growing—bringing new and exciting developments to our area, developments committed to environmentally sound practices, holistic and eco-friendly living, and a devotion to the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
