Three years in a row isn’t something you see often in the roofing industry.
At a recent GAF conference, David Phillips and Drew Pfanmiller were there to accept the 2026 GAF Master Elite® 3-Star President’s Club Award on behalf of Ja-Mar Roofing & Sheet Metal. That marks the third consecutive year the company has earned one of the most respected recognitions in roofing, placing them among the top 2% of contractors nationwide.
It’s easy to look at an award like that and think of it as a milestone or a badge. But in roofing, recognition like this usually points to something deeper.
Consistency.
A lot of roofing companies can have a strong year. Maybe they catch a big storm cycle or bring in new crews to handle volume. But sustaining that level of performance over multiple years is where things start to separate. It requires experienced teams, steady processes and a commitment to doing things the right way, even when demand is high.
That matters more than ever in Central Texas.
Storm season isn’t a question of if, it’s when. Hail, high winds and long stretches of heat put constant pressure on roofing systems. And when those storms hit, they tend to expose the small details that were either done right or overlooked during installation.
Most homeowners won’t see those details from the ground: flashing around penetrations, underlayments beneath the shingles, ventilation systems working behind the scenes. But those are the pieces that determine whether a roof holds up or starts showing problems after the first major storm.
That’s where distinctions like the President’s Club Award start to carry real weight.
To earn it, contractors must meet strict standards set by GAF, including proper installation practices, ongoing training and consistently strong customer feedback. It’s not something that can be achieved through volume alone. It reflects how the work is done, not just how much of it gets done.
For homeowners comparing roofing companies, that can be a useful reference point.
There’s no shortage of options, especially heading into storm season when activity picks up across the region. Trucks start showing up in neighborhoods, offers get more aggressive and it can be difficult to tell who’s truly established and who’s just passing through.
Recognition at a national level helps cut through some of that noise. It signals that a company has been evaluated beyond its own marketing, and that it has demonstrated the ability to perform at a high level over time.
Of course, an award by itself doesn’t install a roof.
What it represents is the track record behind it: the crews doing the work, the systems in place and the homeowners who have trusted that work year after year.
As another storm season approaches across Texas, that kind of consistency becomes more than a talking point. It becomes the difference between a roof that simply looks good on day one and one that continues to perform when the weather puts it to the test.
