When Dental Emergencies Happen, We’re Here

Back to Articles

Dental emergencies rarely show up at a convenient time. A sudden toothache. A cracked tooth during dinner. A crown that comes loose right before a busy week. And almost every time, we hear the same thing: “I wasn’t planning for this.”

At Marks Family Dentistry, the first thing we want you to know is simple, your health comes first. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s always better to have it evaluated sooner rather than later. What starts as mild discomfort can quickly turn into something more complex if ignored. Acting early often means simpler treatment, less stress, and better long-term outcomes.

Common emergencies include severe tooth pain, swelling, infection, broken restorations, or a tooth that has been chipped or knocked loose. Even if you’re unsure whether something qualifies as urgent, we encourage you to call. Our team will walk you through next steps and help you decide what needs attention.

We also understand that unexpected care brings financial questions. That concern is real, and it’s something we address openly. During emergency visits, we clearly explain what’s happening, what needs immediate attention, and what options exist moving forward. In many cases, treatment can be phased, addressing the urgent issue first while planning any additional care in a thoughtful way.

We offer flexible financing solutions to help make unplanned treatment manageable. For patients without insurance, our in-house membership plan can also provide meaningful savings on restorative treatment, in addition to covering preventive care throughout the year. And for those who prefer to pay in full, we offer a courtesy savings option as well.

Most importantly, we believe emergencies should be met with calm, not pressure. Our role is to provide clarity, compassion, and a plan.

The best way to reduce the likelihood of emergencies is consistent preventative care. Routine exams and cleanings allow us to catch small concerns early, often before discomfort ever begins. Prevention will always be the most predictable, cost-effective form of care.

When the unexpected happens, you are not alone.

As a family-owned practice, we’ve cared for generations in our community. We understand that life doesn’t always go according to plan, and dentistry shouldn’t add to your stress. Whether it’s routine prevention or urgent treatment, our commitment remains the same: thoughtful care, clear communication, and solutions that work for your family.

Protecting your smile and oral health, even on an unplanned day, is what we’re here for.
