Every Smile Tells a Story

Most people don’t spend much time thinking about their teeth unless one of them starts hurting.

Our dental team, on the other hand, finds teeth fascinating!

We know that probably sounds a little strange, but the truth is that every smile tells a story. The shape of your teeth, the way they fit together, tiny wear patterns from everyday habits, and even old dental work all combine to create something that’s completely unique to you.

One of the things we love most about dentistry is that no two smiles are ever exactly alike. We see the little clues left behind by years of coffee, braces from childhood, old sports injuries, or habits that patients don’t even realize they have. Sometimes, we will notice signs of clenching or grinding before someone ever mentions jaw soreness or headaches.

It’s one of the reasons dentistry is so personal. We aren’t simply looking at teeth, we’re getting to know the person behind the smile.

Because of that, we don’t believe dental care should ever be one-size-fits-all. Every patient brings a different history, different goals, and different needs. Some people are focused on keeping the healthy smile they’ve always had, while others may be working through years of wear, stress, injury, or changes that simply come with time.

One of the things we value most at Marks Family Dentistry is taking the time to understand those differences. The conversations we have, the questions we ask, and the relationships we build are just as important as the treatment itself. The best care begins with understanding the person, not just the teeth.

One of our favorite things about dentistry is that, even after all these years, we’re still learning. Behind every smile is a different story, and one of the great privileges of our profession is helping people care for something that’s completely and uniquely their own.
