Why Your MedSpa’s Equipment List Matters More Than You’d Think

Back to Articles

What tools does your MedSpa have in their toolbox?

As I was pondering what specials to offer at the spa this month, I found myself acknowledging the importance of thoughtful “technology selections.”

If you are trying to pick a MedSpa to work with, it’s helpful to ask those you approach a few pointed questions. What tools does this company have in their collection? Do these tools offer random treatments, leading to a somewhat scattershot approach to skin care? Or is there intention in their desired applications and outcomes? It’s easy to chase trends, but this approach can leave you with a collection of “sometimes useful” equipment that doesn’t necessarily work with everything else in your stable.

At Kintsu we have deliberately curated an array of high-tech equipment in order to maximize the efficacy of each and every treatment. Some tools pair extremely well, and can be offered together for truly complementary results. For example, this May we’re offering specials on Sofwave and MD Lase treatments — as a self-proclaimed skin nerd I can say that this pairing has me really excited!

Here’s why it works: SofWave goes deep. It targets collagen building and structural restoration. MD Lase works at the surface. It refines texture, evens tone, and addresses pigmentation. Together they offer something neither can achieve alone, and this is entirely by design. While Sofwave lifts the skin “envelope” to provide structural tightening, MD Lase resurfaces the exterior for a “glow” and better pigmentation, creating a synergistic effect that produces faster, more profound, and longer-lasting results. Both procedures are non-invasive and have minimal recovery times.

Other excellent pairings might include:

Oxygen Facials + Laser Treatments: Oxygen facials cleanse, exfoliate, and provide deep hydration, creating an ideal “clean canvas” for laser energy to then penetrate more deeply and more effectively.

Microneedling + VI Peels: Microneedling creates microchannels to break up pigments and ultimately boost collagen production, while the VI Peel accelerates exfoliation, thereby lifting pigmentations for a clearer skin.

There are many combinations that work by basically pairing a surface improvement, (e.g. for the clearing of pigmentations, fine lines, and improved skin tone) with deeper treatments, (e.g. for the stimulation of more collagen production, and encouraging improved structural firmness and lifting.)

Of course, not all procedures are about technical combinations. If you’re looking for a single type of service or treatment, you can still ask your proposed MedSpa about their equipment. A big one, for me, is whether or not the tools work on all skin types. This is not about diversity. Typically, if the equipment is safe and effective for all skin colors, it means that it is more advanced. Older technologies often have real limitations, and can cause damage to certain skin types. With evolution of the application, comes evolution of the whole technology.

As I wrap up, I’d be remiss if I didn’t wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. If you’re looking to treat the maternal person in your life, you now have some great MedSpa combinations to get excited about!
