Here are a few common habits that can quietly damage your teeth – often without you even realizing it.

Using Your Teeth as Tools

Opening packages, biting your nails, or tearing tags with your teeth can cause chips, cracks or debonding of restorations. Teeth are strong, but don’t use them as tools!

Grinding or Clenching Without Treatment

Many people grind their teeth at night without knowing it. Over time, this can wear down enamel, cause jaw pain and lead to shortened, broken teeth. A simple nightguard can make a big difference in discomfort and longevity of your teeth.

Sipping Sugary and Acidic Drinks All Day

Constant exposure to soft drinks, sports drinks or even flavored water bathes teeth in acid, weakening the enamel. If you enjoy these drinks, try limiting them to mealtimes and rinse with water afterward.

Brushing Too Hard

Hard brushing can wear away enamel and irritate gums. A soft-bristled brush and gentle pressure clean teeth just as effectively – without the damage.

Skipping Dental Visits Until Something Hurts

Pain often means a problem has progressed. Regular visits allow dentists to spot issues early – before discomfort or costly treatment is needed.
