Have you been thinking about moving, but the thought of packing is overwhelming?
I know—it’s not the fun part of moving. But doing it the right way can make your entire move feel smoother (and way less stressful).
So I wanted to share one of our favorite client tips we suggest at Extraordinary Homes.
Start here:
Begin boxing up anything you don’t actually need day-to-day:
- Decor
- Extra items
- Seasonal pieces
- Anything that isn’t essential to living
Not only does this get you ahead—it also helps your home feel cleaner and more spacious for showings
Now here’s the game-changing system:
Instead of cardboard boxes, grab a few plastic bins
(Sam’s Club usually has great ones for around $8).
Then:
- Use a silver Sharpie to number each bin on all 4 corners
- Open your Notes app
- Voice text what goes into each bin
Example:
“Bin 3: kitchen gadgets, measuring cups, baking tools”
Why this works so well:
Your notes are searchable
You’ll never “lose” anything you packed
Bins are stackable, sturdy, and reusable
Way less stress on moving day
Pro tip: Keep one “first night” bin with essentials like clothes, toiletries, and chargers!
If you want, we can help you create a personalized game plan for getting your home prepped + packed strategically.
