For more than 35 years, one family-owned, veteran-owned business in Davie has quietly dedicated itself to helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. What began as a foundation in family therapy has evolved into a multi-faceted healing community that now reaches clients far beyond South Florida. Today, under the emerging name Lawless Healing Roots, Marilisa Lawless and her family are embracing a new chapter while staying deeply connected to the roots that started it all.
The original foundation of the business was The Transformation Project, created by Marilisa, her sister Dr. Melinda Lawless Coker, and their late mother, Dr. Marianne Lawless. Together, they built a practice centered around family therapy, emotional wellness, and personal transformation. Over the years, the family expanded their expertise into areas including hypnotherapy, substance abuse counseling, psychodrama, and energy & aromatic healing.
“We’ve had to move with the times,” Marilisa explains. “Healing looks different for everyone, and we’ve always tried to evolve in ways that allow us to support people where they are.”
That evolution became especially visible in 2018 when the family opened a CBD store as another avenue for wellness. Their goal was to provide people with natural alternatives before turning immediately to pharmaceuticals. What started as a supplement to their therapeutic work quickly became another branch of their growing healing community.
Today, the organization includes multiple interconnected offerings. Crystals Del Soul focuses on crystals and grounding tools, while Hemp Del Soul continues their work in hemp-based wellness products. Their newest expansion, Lawless Coaching 11:11, was born from the realization that technology now allows them to connect with people across the country and around the world.
COVID changed the way many businesses operate, and for the Lawless family, it opened unexpected doors. Through Zoom and virtual sessions, they discovered they could reach clients anywhere there is internet access. What was once a local Davie-based practice has become a global community focused on healing, intuition, and personal growth.
At the center of everything remains the belief that healing is deeply rooted in connection, connection to self, family, community, and spirit.
The practice now offers a wide variety of services and experiences. Alongside traditional therapy and coaching, visitors can explore Reiki circles, psychic development, mediumship, tarot readings, and energy, sound, & aromatic healing sessions. Their Reiki circle, a form of Japanese energy healing, has been meeting twice a week for nearly two years. The office also serves as a collaborative healing space where multiple practitioners bring their own specialties and perspectives.
Marilisa describes their business as a tree with many branches. Some paths have evolved over time, while others have blossomed into entirely new opportunities. Yet every branch remains connected to the same roots: helping people feel grounded, safe, and empowered to explore what is happening within themselves.
Among the practitioners is internationally known tarot reader Joelle DiBenedetto, also known as “The Mystic Reader,” who connects with clients around the world. Dr. Melinda Lawless Coker similarly works with clients internationally, demonstrating just how far the family’s reach has expanded.
While many businesses talk about “rebranding,” for the Lawless family it represents something much deeper than a new logo or updated website. It’s about stepping fully into the modern world while honoring decades of experience and service to the community.
“We’re still local. We’re still homegrown,” Marilisa says. “But we’re also reaching out to the world.”
As Lawless Healing Roots continues to grow, the mission remains the same: to create a space where people can heal, discover themselves, and explore the many dimensions of wellness — whether through therapy, energy work, coaching, or spiritual development.
After more than three decades in Davie, the Lawless family is proving that growth doesn’t mean leaving your roots behind. Sometimes, it simply means allowing those roots to grow into something even deeper.
