My dad is the kind of person who always has a project going, fixing something, maintaining the boat or cabin, working around the house, or finding ways to make things better. Even in retirement, he still likes to stay busy, but now there’s also more time to enjoy the people and places he’s worked so hard for over the years.
These photos are some of my favorites because they capture two of the best parts of retirement: spending time with grandchildren at the lake and enjoying adventures together now that life has slowed down a little for my parents.

As a financial advisor, I spend a lot of time talking with people about retirement. One thing I’ve noticed is how much retirement changes the rhythm of life. After decades filled with schedules, responsibilities, and caring for others, people finally have the freedom to focus on the life they worked so hard to build. It creates space for family, hobbies, travel, friendships, and simply enjoying a slower pace.
The best retirement plans support more than financial goals, they support the kind of life people truly want to live.
After years spent working, providing, planning, and taking care of responsibilities, retirement can become something pretty special: the opportunity to enjoy life more fully.
