Everybody is used to AI these days, so I’m going to make this as raw as possible. It’s funny — what used to be normal, people now crave: genuine, heartfelt, and real.
To start, I’m going to tell a little bit of my story.
On May 9th, 2005, my dad was sitting at a stoplight in his truck on the way to the Liberty courthouse. He was an attorney and thought he had court that morning. In an unfortunate series of events, he was never told the hearing had been canceled. At about 8:15 that morning, a school bus careened down 291 Highway at 55 miles an hour, lost control, and hit him and another man, ending his life abruptly.
My family and I were devastated. Between planning an unexpected funeral and sorting through a lifetime of memories and artifacts afterward, we had a very difficult time emotionally. Had it not been for the life insurance policy he so selflessly took out on himself years prior, we would have been facing financial devastation as well.
Although we can never get the man back, and it hurts knowing he never met my children, that policy gave us a chance in life. He would be very proud of us all.
It’s a dark thing to think about, but I urge you to honestly ask yourself: if that had been you sitting at that stoplight that morning, what would life truly look like for your family right now?
Would they be financially secure for years to come? Or would they be forced to make drastic changes just to squeak by during an already difficult season of life?
Last year, my sister Kristi passed away after fighting cancer for 17 years. She was diagnosed at just 34, before she ever had a chance to get life insurance. She battled for nearly two decades, enduring surgeries, chemo, setbacks, and pain, while somehow still inspiring the people around her.
It was the opposite end of the spectrum from my father’s passing — one sudden and one painfully slow — but both taught me the same thing: life changes fast, and preparation matters.
Life is beautiful, and I’ve grown very fond of the memories of Dad and Kristi. They are a huge part of why I chose the profession I’m in today. I take protecting families seriously and promise to give honest, genuine, sincere advice to the people who trust me.
Hug your loved ones tight.
