When it comes to keeping cool in the hot summer months A/C is a wonderful thing to have in your vehicle. But what a lot of people don’t know is that there are many parts to an A/C system that make it function to get that nice, wonderful cool air.

When your A/C stops blowing cold air and starts blowing warm air it’s not always a simple fix. There are steps to follow to diagnose an A/C system.

Many of our customers ask if we can just recharge the system, and the answer is no. By regulations, your system has to be tested and checked for any leaks first. There is a special machine we hook up to the A/C system that we add a special dye to, and then pressurize the system to see if there are any leaks. There are many seals, lines, evaporator core, a/c compressor, and receiver dryer to name a few items, that can malfunction or leak in your system. There is also the electrical side with fuses, relays and modules. Sometimes when you have an A/C issue it’s not just cut and dry, and there may be more than one issue.

Let’s touch on the hot weather and your car. It’s always good to ensure you have your battery tested and also have general maintenance. Make checks, just as if you were getting ready for winter: Tires, fluids, belts and hoses, exhaust, steering and suspension are all important things to be maintained year-round.
