Often when I write this article, it is on the final day of my deadline, and the little creativity gremlin pokes me in the forehead with an idea. Sometimes, that idea hits me the day after I write the previous month’s article. The point is, I typically take advantage of the opportunity and write it when it hits me, because our weeks are a complete blur in 2026. To realize we are at the midpoint of the year is truly mind boggling. I have had this title in my head for at least a week, and this topic has become more important in our business, and our lives, as we charge through 2026.
We rely on processes in real estate more now than ever before, because as our team continues to grow, those processes are imperative. The number of moving parts throughout a real estate transaction can vary, depending on the complexity of the transaction, and if a home falls out of contract at the last minute for a multitude of unexpected reasons, the number of those parts can double. The amount of time, emotional energy, strategy, research, spending time with contractors (when necessary), and even calming the stresses of home sellers, home buyers, and multiple family members in estate situations, can be massive. We are honored, and humbled, to have the amount of business that we do, and with that comes great responsibility. Processes are imperative, and I mean processes in a few different ways. I also want to add that processes are an absolute must in every business, no matter what the industry is. I remember 30 years ago listening to business speakers and trainers talk about how many businesses fail because of mismanaged, or unmanaged, growth. Explosive growth in any business can create issues from not returning phone calls to new or existing customers, not having accounting processes that creates both tax and payroll problems, to as simple as not having an office cleaning and maintenance process that can create a “less than inviting” atmosphere. I find it fascinating that for years now we have been told that technology will continue to make people and businesses more efficient and lessen employee workloads. But the flipside of technology is that we are always connected, always plugged in, and you are expected to be available at all hours. I remember many professions that when employees took a vacation, there were no communication expectations, it was truly “family and/or vacation time.” Those times for most people seem to be a thing of the past. Now with AI, the same promises are even more emphatic of easier processes and efficiency. I am an eternal optimist, and we continually work to improve our processes, but I am very skeptical that we will see lessened work loads in most professions because of AI. Things like marketing and communication will continue to improve, but the human element is so important in so many fields, and it should be. I could be completely wrong, and I truly hope I am, but I am falling back to my huge optimism with a grain of skepticism position. We are finding AI to be very beneficial in many areas, and I resisted kicking and screaming for a while, but we’re using it. I will give the disclaimer that I NEVER use AI when writing this article, and I will not use it in the future. I love writing very much, and it is always my intention to share what is on my heart when the motivation strikes. This is too much fun.
To wrap this up, processes are an absolute necessity in almost every business. Accounting, marketing analytics tracking, client tracking & follow-up, inventories, and managing human emotions, just to name a few. Processes also help to manage stress within a team, a company, and even a family. I have seen families with amazing calendar processes to manage sports schedules, study schedules, and vacation goals. That is a great skill to teach, and I am sure there are studies available that track the generational results of such family management processes. It is an incredibly interesting topic for certain, and we are continually striving to improve our processes within the four walls of our team.
The real estate market continues to be very strong at the time of this writing, and all indicators tell us that will continue into late summer and fall, barring some sudden market interrupter. We are on target for a truly fantastic year, and our biggest process focus is continuing to maintain and expand our amazing and existing client relationships. The number of multigenerational transactions we are doing is amazing, and the enjoyment and satisfaction of our real estate sales is beyond what I ever imagined.
Make it an amazing second half of summer and add that to your own calendars!
