The American National Parks win! After polling our readers last month, the most requested trip we received was a tour of the American National Parks. This is a 12-day, 17 meal trip, beginning in Scottsdale, Arizona, and ending in Rapid City, South Dakota as we journey through five of America’s most incredible National Parks. Here are some of the highlights:
After our welcome dinner in Scottsdale, we will visit the artists’ colony of Sedona to see the amazing rock formations that change hue with each turn in the road, followed by the spectacular Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The following evening, enjoy the sunset views of Lake Powell during dinner.
Day 5’s destination is Zion National Park, very likely one of the most awe-inspiring national parks in the world, just in sheer magnitude and color. Climb aboard Zion’s open-air tram and wind your way alongside the Virgin River and through the 2400-foot-deep Zion Canyon.
Day 6 will take us to Bryce Canyon National Park, where the formations, called hoodoos, are the creation of wind and water erosion over eons of time. Enjoy a hike along the Rim Trail looking into the expansive Bryce Amphitheater from overlooks at Sunrise and Sunset Points. In the town of Jackson, we will experience a fun-filled evening of cowboy entertainment and a traditional chuck-wagon dinner. In Jackson Hole, we can hike, river-raft, shop, or sample local cuisine.
On day 9 we pass through Grand Teton National Park, where the Grand Teton Peak rises to 13,770 feet. Yellowstone National Park is next, including a visit to Old Faithful Geyser. Next we will stop at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, in Cody, before heading to visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, and Mount Rushmore. At our farewell dinner, we will meet a local Lakota Native American and learn about their fascinating way of life, past and present.
