For more than seven decades, New Jersey Ballet School has been enriching the region’s arts and cultural life, shaping young people not just into dancers, but into disciplined, confident, and artistically curious individuals. Based in Florham Park and serving students from across New Jersey and beyond, the School is a place where a love of movement can grow into something extraordinary. As the official school of New Jersey Ballet Company, one of the state’s leading professional ballet companies, NJ Ballet School offers students something rare: a direct connection to a living, working professional company right in their own backyard. Students have the opportunity to observe professional dancers, learn from accomplished faculty, and train within an environment that reflects the standards and traditions of a professional ballet organization.

Founded over 72 years ago, NJ Ballet School has welcomed thousands of students ages four through adult, from curious beginners lacing up their first ballet slippers to pre-professional dancers preparing for careers on national and international stages. The program is designed to meet students wherever their journey may lead them, whether they are a child seeking to develop coordination, confidence, and a love of movement:  a dedicated young dancer pursuing rigorous training and a potential future in the performing arts: or an adult discovering the joy, and artistry and benefits of dance for the first time.

At the artistic helm of NJ Ballet and School is Artistic Director Maria Kowroski, a former principal dancer with New York City Ballet whose career spanned more than two decades at the highest levels of the art form, receiving both the Princess Grace Award and the Jerome Robbins Award. She brings world-class artistry and a rigorous standard of excellence directly to NJ Ballet School’s students.

Heading the school as Associate Director is Martin Harvey, a British dancer and educator whose career spans some of the performing arts world’s most storied institutions. Trained at the Royal Ballet School from the age of 11, Harvey went on to enjoy a distinguished career with the prestigious Royal Ballet, performing principal roles with the company for 15 years. He later brought his artistry to London’s West End, where he received rave reviews and was honored with the UK Critics’ Circle Ballet Award in 2009. Now based in the United States, Harvey continues to dedicate himself to nurturing and developing the next generation of dancers at both the New Jersey Ballet School and Company.

The benefits of a dance education extend far beyond the studio. NJ Ballet School’s philosophy holds that dance training builds the whole person, fostering discipline, concentration, and a sense of artistry that serves students in academics, athletics, and life. The School’s alumni have gone on to perform with some of the most prestigious companies in the country, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Dance Theatre of Harlem among others.

For families in Morristown, Florham Park and the surrounding communities, NJ Ballet School offers an opportunity to give a child something lasting: not simply technical excellence, but confidence, discipline, creativity, and the opportunity to discover their fullest potential. Fall classes begin on September 9th and enrollment is now open.
