Choosing a school is one of the most important investments a family can make in a child’s future. Parents want more than strong academics; they want a community where their daughter will be known, challenged, supported, and inspired to become the very best version of herself.

For nearly 150 years, the Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest has provided exactly that experience. Recognized as the #1 All-Girls School in Bergen County, Holy Angels has built a reputation for academic excellence, transformative opportunities, and a community that helps young women discover their strengths and develop the confidence to lead.

What truly sets Holy Angels apart is its commitment to educating the whole student.

At Holy Angels, students are encouraged to explore a wide range of interests rather than being placed on a predetermined path. Whether through rigorous academics, athletics, fine and performing arts, leadership opportunities, community service, or global experiences, students are empowered to discover their passions and develop the skills needed to thrive in college and beyond.

Programs such as the Oxford Study Abroad Program, Angel Advantage Internships, Mini MBA Program, Robotics, research initiatives, and cultural immersion experiences allow students to apply what they learn in meaningful ways. These opportunities help students become critical thinkers, confident communicators, and adaptable leaders prepared for an ever-changing world.

While Holy Angels is known for its challenging academic environment, students are never expected to navigate it alone. Faculty and counselors take the time to know each student personally, understanding their strengths, learning styles, interests, and goals. This individualized approach helps students reach their full potential while feeling supported every step of the way.

Many alumnae return with a common message: college felt easier because Holy Angels prepared them so well. That preparation is reflected not only in impressive college outcomes, but also in the confidence, independence, and resilience graduates carry with them long after commencement.

Yet statistics tell only part of the story.

Ask Holy Angels’ parents what they value most, and many will speak first about the confidence their daughters gained during their time at the Academy. Students who arrive unsure of themselves often leave as confident leaders, accomplished scholars, dedicated athletes, talented artists, and compassionate members of their communities. Transfer families frequently describe Holy Angels as one of the best decisions they have made, noting that the educational experience, supportive environment, and strong sense of sisterhood made the investment worthwhile.

That sense of community begins even earlier through Holy Angels’ Middle School, a unique offering in today’s educational landscape. Dedicated all-girls Catholic middle school experiences are increasingly rare, yet Holy Angels recognizes the importance of these formative years.

Since opening in 2021, the Middle School has provided students in grades 6 through 8 with an environment where they can thrive academically, socially, artistically, and personally while building the confidence and skills needed for future success. Students benefit from their own classrooms and age-appropriate programming while also enjoying access to many of the same exceptional resources as Upper School students, including the Learning Commons, Student Commons, auditorium, and gymnasium. Many faculty members teach across both divisions, helping students transition seamlessly into high school while allowing them to remain young, have fun, and enjoy the unique experiences of middle school.

Throughout every stage of a student’s journey, Holy Angels remains grounded in its Catholic mission and values. Students are encouraged not only to achieve personal success, but also to become compassionate leaders who use their talents in service to others. Through volunteer initiatives, campus ministry, and community engagement, students learn the importance of empathy, integrity, and leadership.

The Academy’s graduates leave with more than impressive transcripts and college acceptances. They leave with confidence, purpose, lifelong friendships, and the ability to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.

For families seeking an environment where young women are challenged academically, supported personally, inspired spiritually, and empowered to lead, the Academy of the Holy Angels continues to demonstrate that it is more than a school—it is an investment in a lifetime of success.
