Our bustling community is loaded with entrepreneurs who have created incredibly cool spaces, business ideas, and services. A few companies that I find inspiring are Dirt Rich, Mountain Berry Bowls, Busy Bee IV, Compass Chiropractic, Vibrant Roots, Sweet Peaks, Delia Pilates, and Hucks Place. From marketing and branding to interior design and overall service, I think the working minds behind these unique creations are amazing. We are lucky to be in this town.
Creative outlets are incredibly healing and restorative. In fact, as I sit here and write this article, I find myself feeling more relaxed and at ease despite my messy house and laundry list of “to dos”. In terms of my clinic, my creativity was sparked by the design process. I wanted a studio space that felt like a home away from home. A place where people could kick off their shoes and feel safe. I recall many lovely moments of being nap-trapped in a rocking chair with my first born while searching for the perfect coffee table or mural. It was so special to see my business grow out of its infancy at the same time my children did.
Love yoga has offered another venue for me to fully express myself from wild outfits to vinyasa flow improv. When I first started teaching, I tried preparing for my classes by writing down a flow. I found that this practice led me to feel attached to the combination of poses I put together rather than coming from a place of non-attachment or Aparigraha. I soon began to just go with the flow, and my teaching became much more organic and authentic. My next goal is to sing during my classes. We’ll see if I can ever get up the courage to do so.
