Slow Down: What Your Brain Already Knows

Look around. How many people do you know are running themselves ragged — shuttling kids to soccer, piano, tutoring, swim, night after night — and it seems completely normal? Not just manageable. Expected.

Here’s what that pace is doing: it keeps the brain locked in a low-grade stress response. Constant motion, constant transitions, constant “next thing” — that’s not discipline, that’s a nervous system that never gets to downshift. And a brain that never downshifts can’t do its best thinking, parenting, or anything else.

This is where the Brain Activation Method comes in.

BAM isn’t about adding more to the schedule. It’s about training your brain to switch states on command — out of scattered, reactive, running-on-fumes mode, and into one where you’re present, clear, and actually available to the people in front of you.

BAM works because of the specific points I use on the body. By activating these points, she signals the brain directly — not relying on willpower alone. A few minutes of intentional breath work, a moment of stillness before you walk in the door, and the activation of these points together tell your brain: we’re not in emergency mode anymore; you can come back online.

When the brain comes back online, everything improves. Focus sharpens. Reactivity drops. Memory strengthens. Decisions get cleaner. Even physical tension — tight shoulders, a clenched jaw, shallow breathing — begins to unwind as the nervous system finally gets permission to settle.

BAM gives your brain a pattern interrupt: a way to stop the runaway train of chronic busyness and re-establish a baseline of calm. Over time, these small activations build inner resilience — a steadiness that lets you handle chaos without becoming the chaos.

That’s the shift most overscheduled families are missing. It’s not that they need fewer car rides — though many do. It’s that they’ve never practiced coming down from the constant low simmer of “go, go, go” long enough to remember what calm feels like.

Dr. Ann’s Brain Activation Tip: Close your eyes and sit or lay on your back. Focus on your tailbone and breathe, intending breath in and out of it. Next breath, focus on the base of your skull where it meets your neck. Alternate this breath and intention 24 times, twice daily. Move into your day feeling more focused and calm.

Activate. Then engage.

For Dr. Ann, Brain Activation Method represents hope, possibility, and the opportunity for people to become more fully aligned with the life they want to create.
