Motherhood is one of life’s greatest joys, and it is also one of its most demanding seasons. The days are full of noise and laughter, endless snacks and questions, piles of laundry, and interrupted sleep. Yet many moms of young kids will tell you that those very full days can also feel surprisingly lonely. At Chapelstreet Church, we believe no mom should have to navigate this season alone.
That is why we are excited to announce that Chapelstreet will soon be launching a chapter of MomCo, a community designed specifically for moms with young kids. If the name MomCo is new to you, the organization behind it probably is not. MomCo, short for The Mom Community, is the new name of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), a ministry that has been bringing moms together for more than fifty years. It is the same trusted organization with the same heart for moms, now with a new name that reflects its focus on all moms of young children: from the mom expecting her first baby to the mom with older school-aged kids, not just those with preschoolers.
So what is MomCo? At its heart, it is simply moms gathering on a regular basis to build real friendships as they share in the challenges and joys of motherhood. Gatherings include coffee and refreshments, conversation and encouragement, and practical content on topics that matter to moms. You don’t need to have it all together (none of us do); you are welcome exactly as you are, even if you are running late and still wearing yesterday’s messy bun.
While every gathering offers something helpful, the greatest benefit of MomCo is not the program or curriculum; it is the people. Support, community, and encouragement are incredibly valuable for everyone, no matter your age or stage of life, but they are especially important for moms in the thick of motherhood. When you are up at 2:00am soothing a newborn, negotiating with a determined toddler, or worrying about your child being bullied, it makes all the difference to know you can connect with other moms who truly get it—women who will laugh with you, pray for you, and remind you that you are doing better than you think. MomCo exists so that moms with young kids do not have to feel alone. Jesus speaks into our motherhood and He gives us the gift of each other.
Chapelstreet’s MomCo chapter will host a drop-in informational meet + play date to learn more on 9/23 from 9:15–11:15 am at our Keslinger campus in Geneva. Meet-ups will kick off on 10/7 and be held on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 9:15–11:15 am.
Childcare is provided, so you can relax and connect while your kids are lovingly cared for nearby. You do not need to attend Chapelstreet Church to join—every mom is welcome.
