Here in the Mystic area, we’re fortunate to have the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, where a getaway can mean a beautifully appointed room, dinner and cocktails, a visit to Cerulean Beauty and Spa, and the simple pleasure of letting someone else take care of the details. Sometimes, that full-service experience is exactly the kind of escape we need.
But other trips call for something a little different.

A MORE LOCAL EXPERIENCE
Hotels tend to place you in the center of the visitor experience. An Airbnb can put you right into a neighborhood. You may find yourself walking to the local coffee shop in the morning, discovering a restaurant you wouldn’t have otherwise noticed or spending an evening on a porch instead of in a hotel lobby. It can make a destination feel less like somewhere you’re visiting and more like somewhere you’re temporarily calling home.
Even our own local Airbnbs, like Hemingway Carriage House, Mystic On Broadway, and Willow Point offer a private and spacious experience. All are within walking distance to the best local attractions. It can also make group travel easier. Whether a girls’ weekend, family vacation, wedding weekend or couples’ getaway, sharing a home can be both practical and fun. Everyone can gather together while still having their own space, and it can be cost-effective.
READ THE REVIEWS – ESPECIALLY THE RECENT ONES
If you know me, you know I’m big on reviews. But don’t just look at the star rating. Read what guests actually say. Pay particular attention to repeated comments about cleanliness, noise, the neighborhood, beds, host communication, and whether the property matches the photos. One negative review isn’t necessarily a deal breaker. The same complaint appearing repeatedly probably is.
