Leading up to Thanksgiving is a perfect time to highlight the diverse (and gourmet!) foods we offer here at Paws Inn Pet Essentials. Feeding your dogs and cats involve many new options these days! While kibble remains a convenient choice, a growing selection of foods and toppers gives pet owners additional ways to provide variety and moisture.
At Paws Inn Pet Essentials, helping customers understand those choices is a really important part of what we do. Some great options for supplementing or changing routines include:
- Pet-specific broths
- Goat’s milk
- Freeze-dried foods and toppers
- Canned and gently cooked foods
- Frozen raw foods

These products serve different purposes. Some provide complete and balanced nutrition, while others are intended to supplement a meal. Understanding that distinction helps you maintain a balanced diet as you introduce something new.
Our interest in nutrition is personal, too. My staff and I have introduced foods such as freeze-dried and raw recipes to our own dogs’ diets and noticed differences in their energy and coats. These are our individual observations; each pet’s response and nutritional needs will vary.
Those experiences, along with ongoing staff education, have encouraged us to expand our selection. Our goal is to help customers find suitable choices for their dogs and cats while considering feeding preferences, daily routines, and budgets.

“The absolute Best Pet Store in Minnesota! Always helpful! I have a pitty with tons of allergies and they took the time to go through all foods and treats in the store to get her the things that she can have! Wonderful and knowledgeable staff they truly care about your fur babies!” ~ Lisa O., current customer
When exploring new foods, begin with a complete and balanced diet appropriate for your pet’s species and life stage. Introduce changes gradually and adjust portions to account for additions. Toppers and treats that are not complete and balanced should generally stay within 10% of daily calories. Follow product storage and handling instructions, particularly for raw foods.
Whether you want to add a topper or explore a different feeding approach, our team is here to help you understand the options and make an informed choice for your pet.
