Dakota: The Towering Pomeranian

Dogs may measure time from breakfast to dinner. They also might calculate height from how much oomph it takes to jump from the floor to a lap. This would explain why little Dakota thinks he’s 10 feet tall and requires an automatic dog-food feeder.

Dakota the Towering Pomeranian is his mom’s whole universe, which is about 93 billion light years in diameter. Dakota is a whopping six pounds—and the apple of Christi Roberts’ eye. Despite Dakota having a German shepherd brother weighing in at 130 pounds, we all know who wears the black-and-white fluffy pants.

Christi takes her little fella everywhere. “Dakota is spoiled and has a luxurious stroller in which the carrier comes off. There have been times when traveling, we had to bring him in a restaurant with us. I cover the carrier with a blanket, and it looks like we have a baby,” she shares.

And I wasn’t kidding about his automatic feeder: Every morning at 5 a.m., he requires a treat, or he will huff and puff until his wish has been granted. He does the same at 4 p.m., when it’s dinnertime. He likes his food “to go,” using his little mouth as a takeout bag and tossing his kibble on the ground—the perfect leftovers. In the scheme of things, Dakota may be as little as a grain of sand, but to Christi, there’s no doubt he is as large as life.
