Data. Fuel. Perform. Recover: WOW Launches a High School Athlete Performance Program

High school athletes in the Wasatch Back put in serious work. They show up for early practices, strength sessions, travel tournaments, and long seasons, often while juggling school and everything else that comes with being a teenager. What many of them don’t have is a clear picture of what their bodies need to support all that effort.

This November, we’re launching something we’ve wanted to build for a long time: the WOW High School Athlete Performance Program, a 12-week sports nutrition, performance testing, and recovery program designed specifically for competitive high school athletes. Our goal is simple: help athletes get more from the work they’re already putting in.

Measure: Understanding the Athlete

Every athlete starts with baseline testing. A DEXA scan measures lean mass, fat mass, regional body composition, and bone health. Resting metabolic rate (RMR) testing shows how much energy their body actually needs at rest, and VO₂ max testing measures aerobic capacity and cardiovascular fitness. These numbers give athletes, parents, and our team objective data to work from instead of guesswork.

Fuel: Individualized Sports Nutrition

From there, each athlete meets one-on-one with our in-house sports nutritionist for three coaching sessions. We start by learning what sport and position they play, their training schedule and load, their goals, and their lifestyle, then build a nutrition plan around them. Sessions cover daily fueling, protein and carbohydrate needs, hydration and electrolytes, pre- and post-training nutrition, game-day, tournament, and travel nutrition, recovery nutrition, and appropriate supplement education. The idea is to teach young athletes how to fuel like athletes, with habits that will serve them well beyond high school.

Recover: Supporting the Work

Training only pays off when the body can recover from it. Each athlete receives five WOW Athlete Recovery Sessions, which may include cold plunge and sauna, compression, and targeted red-light therapy as appropriate. These sessions complement, rather than replace, the basics of good nutrition, hydration, and sleep.

Progress: The 12-Week Follow-Up

At the end of the program, athletes repeat their DEXA scan, and we review their body-composition changes in the context of their individual performance and development goals.

Built to Support Coaches

This program is designed to complement, not replace, the coaching and strength programs athletes already have. Coaches invest a great deal in practices, conditioning, skill development, and competition, and we want to support those efforts without interfering with anyone’s coaching philosophy or training plan. We’ve already shared the program outline with local high school coaches, and we’d love to welcome athletes from Wasatch, Park City, and South Summit high schools.

It’s open to athletes in football, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, cross country, swimming, lacrosse, wrestling, golf, tennis, and more.

We’re finalizing the last details now, and we’re genuinely excited to see what these athletes can accomplish when they understand their bodies and have the right support behind them. If you have a high school athlete, or coach one, we’d love to talk with you.
