November is National Home Care and Hospice Month, and Hospice of Cumberland County is here to help you understand the care options that are available to you and your loved ones.
The Medicare hospice benefit began in 1982, and hospice has helped provide supportive and compassionate care for millions of people. This allows patients to spend their final days, weeks, or months at home surrounded by their loved ones. It also allows them to receive hospice care in a facility such as a nursing home, an assisted living facility, or even a residential hospice facility like our very own Cumberland House right here in Crossville.
At Hospice of Cumberland County, we have the privilege of walking alongside patients and families during some of life’s most difficult days. Through those experiences, we are often reminded that gratitude and sadness do not have to be opposites. They can exist together. Our hospice team crafts a plan of care that centers on the goals and wishes of patients and their loved ones. We provide emotional support and guidance to help family members become confident caregivers, along with grief support for up to 13 months following our services.
Each year, over a million Medicare beneficiaries receive care from hospices across the United States. Hospice of Cumberland County is a nonprofit hospice organization, and our home hospice patients will never receive a bill from us, whether or not they have health insurance. We are committed to serving our community and to delivering high-quality, person-centered care to anyone who is facing a life-limiting illness. We provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support while also supporting your wishes and following your personal plan of care.
At Hospice of Cumberland County, our staff and volunteers are continually inspired by the patients and families who allow us into their lives. During National Home Care and Hospice Month this November, we are especially grateful for the trust our community places in us and for the opportunity to serve our neighbors when they need care and support.
