Happy Veterans Day to all Veterans! We honor and remember your sacrifice today and every day. Thank you for your courage and dedication to our country. We would not have this beautiful country today if it wasn’t for your sacrifice and loyalty. It does not matter if you served for 2 years or 20 years, you made the decision to serve our country bravely, and we appreciate everything that all of you have done. Our mission at Visiting Angels of The Villages is simple, to serve our community as bravely as our Veterans did. We are here for you, to guide you in the right direction, give you free services through the VA, and give you knowledge.
Did you know about the Dual Act of 2025, it focuses on several key areas to help our Veterans get the care and help that they need. The Act seeks to improve access to healthcare services for Veterans, such as home care services. There used to be a lot of hoops to jump through to be qualified for services, but not anymore. You do not need to fill out mountains of paperwork upfront or even have your DD214 attached to the paperwork to register for VA Benefits. It is as simple as a phone call to the VA Enrollment department. All you need to register for VA Benefits is to make the call, know your date of birth, and last 4 of your Social Security card number. If you are nonservice connected, to qualify you need to have served for 24 months straight, no breaks in-between. If you are worried that you make too much money to qualify, please do not let that stop you from registering for benefits. Even if you have assets, they do not count, you can still qualify for care. You may have a co-pay or a deductible when registering for benefits, but you should be able to qualify for VA Benefits. There are so many Veterans here in the state of Florida that don’t use any benefits because they think that they don’t meet the requirements, or they don’t deserve them, you all deserve the VA Benefits.
Here at Visiting Angels of The Villages, we also have this wonderful program, that only we have called the A.S.K. Program. It stands for “Angels Sharing Knowledge,” and we are here to help. If we do not have the services you are looking for, we can still help you and guide you in the right direction. Most places will just tell you to go look on Google to find what you are looking for, not us. It is important to us to support our community, and we are here to help connect you with resources you may need. Need a reliable handyman? ASK. Need help finding resources for dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or other chronic conditions? ASK. Need information about Veterans benefits, senior living options, meal delivery, support groups, or community programs? ASK. When we pick up that phone, and have a conversation with you, our goal is to give you what you need. There is a reason why you called us in the first place, so let us help you, let us guide you, and let us serve you to the best of our ability. Because helping people isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are.
We are just a phone call away! Give us a call at 352-643-0702.
