Q&A Spotlight: Mike Glimpse

Q: Tell us about yourself!

A: I’m a born and raised native of Arizona. My dad was a cattle rancher and my mom drove an 18-wheel semi until I reached high school. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville – Go Vols! I’ve been married for 28 years to my wife, Jodi, and have three children. Alexis is 23 and currently works for BVM as a Territory Development Manager. She just graduated with her master’s degree in Sports and Hospitality Management from the University of Alabama. Savannah is 22 and is finishing her senior year at Case Western in Cleveland. Austin is 18 and finishing his senior year of high school and will be attending South Dakota Mines in the fall. My wife and I spend the majority of our time living in Glendale, but we also spend a portion of the year at our home in Kona, Hawaii.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I would say we live a pretty boring day-to-day life. In my free time, I love to fish and I’m lucky enough to have a family that enjoys fishing as well. We have a saying that’s always been true for us – a family that fishes together, stays together. Whether it’s local freshwater lakes in Arizona or sport fishing in Kona, fishing has always been a big part of our lives. I currently hold the record for the largest fish caught in our household, a 900-plus pound Blue Marlin. Both Alexis and Jodi have also caught fish over 700 pounds.

Q: What did you do prior to joining Best Version Media?

A: My wife and I have owned a separate company for 18 years, which she now runs since I joined BVM four years ago. Prior to BVM, I was a Publisher and Executive Sales Director for another company which gave me a strong platform to step right into my current roles with BVM.  I am currently the Director of North American Recruiting and also lead the Heartland Region.

Q: Describe your role as the Director of North American Recruiting.

A: My recruiting role has me overseeing a group of more than 31 Talent Assessment and Territory Development Managers strategically placed across North America. I couldn’t do what I do in Heartland without the daily leadership from Kat Parrish, Laine Andrzejewski, Martha Stallings and Elsa Sandoval. Those four, along with our six Senior Talent Assessment Managers, assure that we are running like a well-oiled machine.

Q: What’s your favorite part about working with BVM?

A: My favorite part of working with BVM is the people. The talent and quality of human beings that work with BVM is second to none. The commitment to our core values is unwavering at every level of the business and it makes it a joy to be a part of.

Q: Describe the BVM Publisher opportunity.

A: The Publisher role at BVM is very special. I have felt the effects of what running a micro-targeted magazine in a local neighborhood does for the residents and local business owners. This is why I have so much conviction in what we do. In addition to the thousands of markets still available for print magazines, the emergence of BVM Sports and digital advertising for our clients is opening up even more opportunities for our Publishers.
