The Power of Networking: Why It Matters More Than Ever for Women in Business

Hello Neighbors! In today’s fast-moving, relationship-driven professional world, networking is no longer optional—it’s essential. For women in business, in particular, building strong, intentional networks can be the difference between staying stuck and stepping into leadership, opportunity, and long-term success.

Breaking Through Historical Barriers

Women have historically faced limited access to traditional power circles—spaces where decisions are made, deals are formed, and careers are accelerated. While progress has been made, many industries still reflect these imbalances, and we deserve and have earned our seat at the executive table. It’s often said that “your network is your net worth,” and for good reason. A significant number of career opportunities—whether it’s a promotion, partnership, or new role—come through referrals and relationships, not job postings. In short, networking puts you in rooms you may not have been invited into otherwise.

Quality Over Quantity: Choosing The Right Networking Group

There are so many great networking groups in our local community. Last year, I was invited to join a local women’s networking group, Fresh Connections. Every year they host a forum and I was lucky enough to attend this fun, engaging, and learning workshop. What I like most about this group is the quality they bring to the table. They only accept one member from each industry, so there’s no competing, only opportunity. This year, their forum theme is NOW WE LEAD, Power, Presence, Possibility. It is being held at Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater on Wednesday June 3rd from 11:00am-5:00pm. Come share your expertise, open doors, receive insider knowledge and guidance, and increase visibility in your field.

Be well, spa often, wear your sunscreen.
