It’s amusing to think about how things change over time. Technological advances can be strange at first, but they improve our lives in a lot of ways. The same can be said of veterinary medications and preventions.
When I was a kid, the only way to give heartworm prevention was through a daily pill. Flea dips were the first and only way to treat fleas. Ticks? You picked them off the dog and hoped for the best. Pet preventions have come so far in the last 40 years. We have seen the advent of topical and oral products for fleas and ticks, and we’ve seen those preventions start to last longer and longer.
Most recently, we’ve seen the emergence of long term injectable products for both heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention.
