Back to Articles

Q: What hay should I feed my bunnies?

A: Adult and young rabbits need a balanced fiber diet with pellets and timothy hay, alfalfa is not recommended for adults.

Q: How do I tell If my parakeet is a boy or a girl?

A: Parakeets have a little spot above their beaks but below their eyes called a “Cere” it’s the skin around their nostrils. In general males have a solid blue or purplish tint where females have a white to brown cere. In most cases it is not defined until they are at least 1 year of age.

Q: Do I bathe my chinchilla?

A: No, Chinchillas have a VERY think coat of fur that when wet it is almost impossible to dry leaving their coat to mildew and mold. Such things as bathing a chinchilla can be fatal for the animal. Instead, chinchillas take “Dust Baths” a formulation of dust that allows them to roll in to clean their coats without getting wet.

Q: How often should I clean my small animals cage?

A: Depending on how many animals you keep per cage, what species it is, and how much you feed we recommend at least cleaning your cage every other day or every 3 days!
