This May, the stage at the Montrose Pavilion will transform into a magical kingdom as Weehawken Creative Arts presents Cinderella, a full-scale dance production featuring nearly 400 dancers performing across six performances and six unique casts.
Running May 6–10, this dazzling production brings together dancers of all ages and abilities from across the region, creating a vibrant theatrical experience that celebrates the joy of dance and storytelling.
Under the artistic direction of Natasha Pyeatte, and brought to life by Weehawken’s exceptional teaching team, Cinderella blends a wide range of dance styles—including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, aerial, and more—into a richly layered performance filled with humor, heart, and enchantment.
“This is not a recital,” says Weehawken Executive Director Ashley King. “Our goal is always to create a true performance experience—something the whole community can enjoy, whether or not they know a dancer in the show.”
Weehawken productions are known for their professional-level staging, imaginative sets, beautiful costumes, and playful storytelling. For many dancers, the annual spring production is the highlight of the season—a chance to experience the excitement of performing on a large stage with full theatrical production elements.
In Cinderella, audiences will step into the pages of the beloved fairy tale, where silly stepsisters, dancing pumpkins, and a charming prince come to life through movement and music. The magical transformation scene—when Cinderella arrives at the golden ballroom in her pumpkin carriage—promises to be a highlight of the show, capturing the wonder of this timeless story.
The production also reflects the scope of Weehawken’s growing dance program, which serves hundreds of students across Ridgway, Ouray, and Montrose.
Different performances will feature slightly different casts and age groups. Matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday are especially perfect for families, showcasing many of Weehawken’s youngest dancers. The Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evening performances will primarily feature mid-to-advanced dancers and highlight the full scale of the production.
