As summer approaches, Lake George Music Festival returns as something more compelling than just a series of concerts: a rare opportunity to witness the future of classical music up close; and often before the rest of the world catches on.
Each season, more than 80 musicians, composers, and guest artists arrive in Lake George for an intensive period of performance, collaboration, and artistic growth. Naturally, one of the first questions audiences ask is: Who’s playing this year? It’s a fair question—and an important one—but the answer may not mean what you expect.

In fact, if you were handed a list of names, there’s a good chance you wouldn’t recognize many of them. And that’s precisely the point, not a drawback.
The Lake George Music Festival has built its reputation on identifying and supporting exceptional artists before they become widely known. These are musicians at a pivotal moment in their careers: recent graduates of top conservatories, early-career professionals stepping into major orchestras, and emerging soloists and composers finding their voice. They may not yet be household names, but they are very often on that trajectory.
Over the past sixteen seasons, the Festival has welcomed close to 1,500 alumni, many of whom now perform with leading American orchestras, teach at major institutions, and earn national and international recognition; including honors as significant as Grammy Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Music. For audiences, that creates a rare and exciting dynamic: the chance to discover artists early, to hear them in an intimate setting, and later watch as their careers unfold on the world stage.
