At Ballert Medical Aesthetics, the focus is on helping patients feel refreshed, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. Through a personalized approach, nurse practitioners Blair Wientjes and Lindsay Martin help patients achieve natural-looking results while prioritizing long-term skin health and subtle enhancements tailored to each individual.

Meet Blair Wientjes

Blair Wientjes grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, proudly cheering on the Volunteers before her career eventually brought her to Nashville where she worked as a nurse at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. It was there she met her husband, Calvin, a native of the Paducah area, before later making western Kentucky home.

After earning her Masters of Science in Nursing from Belmont University, Blair began working at Paducah Dermatology, now known as Ford Dermatology, where she spent nearly six years learning directly under Dr. Ford. During that time, she developed a deep understanding of skin health, aging, prevention, and the lasting impact sun exposure can have over time.

“My path into medical aesthetics started during my time working in dermatology, where I developed a strong appreciation for skin health and the role it plays in both confidence and overall well being,” Blair shared. “Medical aesthetics felt like a natural extension of that passion.”

Meet Lindsay Martin

For Lindsay Martin, the journey into aesthetics feels deeply personal and full circle. A Paducah native and graduate of St. Mary High School, Lindsay attended the University of Louisville where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing before completing her Masters of Science in Nursing at Spalding University. After graduate school, she returned home to Paducah, got married, and began her career as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care.

While Lindsay loved helping patients in primary care, she eventually found herself searching for a specialty that would allow her to continue caring for people while balancing the needs of her growing family. Medical aesthetics became the perfect fit.

“I have always been passionate about helping people feel their best and medical aesthetics allows me to continue to do that in a new way,” Lindsay shared.

One of the most meaningful parts of her journey has been working alongside Alexa Payne, someone she graduated high school and nursing school with years ago.

“Getting to work with her feels like a full circle moment,” Lindsay said.

Why Ballert Medical Aesthetics Stands Apart

One of the things both Blair and Lindsay emphasized is the level of expertise and individualized care patients receive at Ballert Medical Aesthetics. Under the guidance of Dr. Ballert, a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, the team approaches every patient with a strong understanding of facial anatomy, safety, and long term treatment planning.

That experience allows the team to offer patients a wide range of treatment options, from medical grade skincare to neurotoxins, fillers, lasers, microneedling, and biostimulators. It also means patients can receive honest recommendations about what treatments truly fit their goals.

“If a patient’s concerns cannot be addressed directly at BMA, they can be evaluated and have a plan made with Dr. Ballert at his Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office within Baptist Health,” Blair explained.

The Biggest Concerns Patients Have

Many first time patients walk into Ballert Medical Aesthetics carrying the same concerns. Fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, loss of elasticity, and preventative aging are among the most common topics discussed during consultations.

But beyond the physical concerns, many patients also carry fears surrounding aesthetics itself. They worry about pain, downtime, or looking unnatural.

“The most common thing I hear from patients is that they feel like they are starting to look ‘old,’” Lindsay shared. “They are interested in ways to improve and prevent signs of aging without looking unnatural.”

Blair says helping patients understand the process is one of the most important parts of easing those concerns.

“Often, aesthetic treatments can take weeks to months before seeing results,” she explained. “It’s important to have a clear but realistic goal in what you are wanting to achieve.”

The providers believe education is one of the most important parts of helping patients feel comfortable. Every consultation begins with listening carefully to a patient’s concerns, evaluating their anatomy, and creating realistic expectations about treatment timelines and results.

“If you are curious about treatments, but don’t know where to start, I would encourage you to book a free consultation,” Lindsay said. “We will do a thorough assessment and formulate a customized treatment plan.”

The Goal Is Never to Look Overdone

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding aesthetics is the fear of looking frozen or overfilled. But Blair and Lindsay both agree that natural looking results come from restraint, customization, and treating each patient individually rather than chasing trends.

“The ‘overdone’ look usually comes from poor planning, overcorrection, or chasing trends instead of treating each individual patient’s anatomy separately,” Blair explained.

Lindsay believes the best aesthetic work often goes unnoticed.

“The most successful aesthetic work is undetectable,” she said. “You simply look like yourself, but well rested and refreshed.”

She also emphasized the philosophy of “less is more,” explaining that subtle, incremental treatments almost always create the most natural outcomes.

The Treatments Patients Are Loving Right Now

Today’s aesthetic trends are shifting away from dramatic transformations and toward subtle, long term effectiveness. Patients increasingly want treatments that improve skin quality while requiring minimal downtime.

Some of the most popular treatments at Ballert Medical Aesthetics include neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify, along with CoolPeel laser treatments, microneedling, HydraFacials, chemical peels, fillers, and medical grade skincare.

CoolPeel laser treatments have become especially popular because they improve texture, sun damage, pore size, and collagen production while maintaining a relatively short recovery period. Neurotoxins remain a favorite for both prevention and softening existing expression lines caused by repeated facial movement.

Healthy Skin Starts at Home

While in office treatments can make a tremendous difference, both Blair and Lindsay stress that healthy skin begins with consistency at home.

Blair recommends focusing on the basics including a cleanser, antioxidant such as Vitamin C, retinoid, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

“And protecting your skin from the sun … this is a non negotiable,” Blair said. “After working in dermatology and seeing the damage UV rays can cause, including skin aging and skin cancers, I will never not recommend daily SPF and protective clothing. Prevention truly is the best medicine.”

Lindsay also encourages patients to maintain a simple but effective skincare routine and reminds patients that consistency matters far more than using countless products.

Both providers emphasized that healthy skin also starts internally through hydration, sleep, nutrition, and limiting smoking and excessive alcohol use.

The Future of Aesthetics

Looking ahead, Blair and Lindsay are excited to continue bringing a more comprehensive and natural approach to aesthetics to the Paducah community. Patients are increasingly understanding that aging is multifaceted and often requires combining treatments for the best long term results.

“Aesthetics right now is more about subtle, long term effectiveness,” Blair explained. “Our goal is to deliver refined results that align with each patient’s goals and natural anatomy.”

“For example, combining neurotoxins with laser treatments and medical grade skincare will give a more comprehensive outcome,” Lindsay explained.

At the heart of everything they do is a commitment to helping patients feel confident while still looking like themselves. In a world filled with filters, trends, and unrealistic beauty standards, Ballert Medical Aesthetics is focused on something much more timeless. Helping people age gracefully, naturally, and confidently while feeling supported every step of the way.
