Lake Days Can Be Hard on the Body: Here’s How to Keep Moving All Summer

  • Copied!

Summer around the water is what we live for in Minnesota, the long days on the lake, hauling boats, paddleboarding, waterskiing, lifting kayaks in and out of the truck, sitting on the pontoon in positions your spine would like a word about.

And then Monday comes. Your back is stiff. Your neck is jacked-up. That old shoulder thing you’d forgotten about made a reappearance, totally messing with your day.

Lake life is physical! It asks a lot of your body, especially after a winter of sitting on the couch… no judgement!

At Power of Life Alternative & Holistic Health in Victoria, we help people stay in the game all summer long. Here are some common summertime issues we see, and what to do about them:

  • Low Back Pain and Stiffness — The #1 complaint after a big lake weekend. Long hours in boat seats, those old cabin beds, and sitting in traffic on 94. Chiropractic adjustments restore proper joint motion and relieve the muscle tension that builds up around a restricted spine.
  • Shoulder and Neck Pain — Waterskiing (and falling), paddling, and even just sleeping in unfamiliar positions with random pillows put significant stress on the upper body. We address the joints and soft tissue so you can get back out there.
  • Hip and Knee Pain — Long hours on your feet, uneven surfaces on docks and lakeshore, and activities like tubing or wakeboarding create repetitive stress on the lower extremities that compounds over the summer.
  • Headaches and Migraines — Long days in the sun, summer beverages and foods, packed family cabins, and maybe a wipeout or two on the tube or jet skit. We see A LOT of headaches and migraines. Our gentle approach is safe and effective.

“He [Dr. Nate] is excited for me to get back in the saddle with life figuratively and literally. I have not been on a horseback ride in a few years and it is my goal to ride again. He is committed to my goal of getting back on the horse!” – Sarah P.

You don’t have to earn your way into pain before you come see us. A mid-summer tune-up — just like you’d do for your boat — keeps your body running the way it should all season long.

We offer complimentary consultations to make sure you are in the best place for your condition. If we can’t help, we will find someone who can. Conveniently schedule online or give us a call. www.PowerofLifeHealth.com or 952-443-9000.
