Pro Tip: Don’t Wait for a Hurricane Warning to Think About Your Trees

One of the biggest mistakes Jacksonville homeowners make is waiting until a storm is already approaching before thinking about tree safety.

In neighborhoods like Ortega, Riverside/Avondale and San Marco, mature oaks, magnolias and pines add tremendous beauty and value to our properties. However, even healthy-looking trees can hide serious structural problems that become dangerous during hurricane season.

Many tree hazards are not visible from the ground. Dead limbs, internal decay, weak branch attachments, storm damage from previous years and root instability can all cause a tree or large limb to fail during high winds. The result can be costly damage to homes, vehicles, fences, power lines or even personal injury.

The best time for a professional tree inspection is before hurricane season ramps up.

Watch for warning signs such as cracked limbs, hollow areas, leaning trunks, mushrooms near roots, thinning canopies or branches hanging over structures.

Proper pruning and preventive maintenance can reduce wind resistance and eliminate hazards while preserving the health and beauty of valuable mature trees.

A little preparation today can help prevent major damage tomorrow.

Robert’s Tree Service offers free tree inspections. Call 904-777-4793 or 904-509-0011 to schedule an appointment.
