In the heart of the local community, one small business has quietly grown into something much more than a place for pet care—it has become a space built on trust, connection, and everyday acts of service. What began as a search for a health and wellness–focused business during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 lockdown has evolved into a meaningful presence centered on both pets and the people who love them.
The owners of a local Scenthound location originally set out to explore opportunities in the wellness industry. During a time when families were spending more time at home and navigating the challenges of isolation—especially with children feeling its effects—they began to rethink what “wellbeing” truly meant. That reflection led them to a simple but powerful realization: pets play a central role in the emotional health of a household.
That understanding ultimately brought them to Scenthound, a concept built on the belief that caring for a dog’s health helps strengthen the entire family “pack.” From the beginning, the mission felt personal and deeply connected to community life.

Today, their location has become a familiar and welcoming part of the local landscape, serving families who see their pets as true members of the household. At the core of the business is routine hygiene and wellness care designed to support dogs between veterinary visits. Each appointment includes a “SCENTcheck,” a six-point wellness evaluation covering Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, Teeth, and Glands. Instead of focusing on styling or breed-specific cuts, the emphasis remains on comfort, cleanliness, and preventative care.
This approach has resonated strongly with the community. Pet owners appreciate having a consistent, approachable option that prioritizes their dog’s health in a calm and supportive environment. Over time, these routine visits have grown into relationships built on trust—between staff, pets, and families.
A key part of that connection is patience and understanding. Many dogs arrive with anxiety or past grooming fears, and the team takes time to meet each animal where they are. Through gentle handling and individualized care, dogs often begin to relax, building confidence visit after visit. These small transformations have become some of the most meaningful moments for both staff and pet owners alike.

As they celebrate their anniversary, that sense of community is at the forefront. The milestone is more than a marker of time—it is a moment of gratitude. The team reflects on the relationships they have built and the trust that families have placed in them.
“This anniversary means everything to us,” the owners share. “It shows that what we do is making a real difference—for dogs and for the people who love them.”
They also extend heartfelt appreciation to the Rosemount and surrounding communities for their ongoing support. From neighbor-to-neighbor recommendations to partnerships with local organizations such as Spots Last Stop and support of the 360 Communities animal pantry, the business has grown through a strong network of community care. In return, they continue to give back by helping support local rescue efforts.

Looking back, the owners say the most rewarding part of the journey has been the relationships formed along the way. “The connections—with both people and their pets—are what we’re most proud of,” they explain. “Watching dogs grow more comfortable and seeing families return month after month is what keeps us going.” As they look ahead, plans include continued growth in the south metro, with hopes of opening another location in the next 18 months. But just as important is their commitment to staying rooted in the community they serve.
At its core, this Scenthound location remains focused on something simple but powerful: showing up for pets and their people, building trust one visit at a time, and expressing deep gratitude to the community that made it all possible.
