Top Questions to Ask When Interviewing House Cleaners

When folks call Liberty Maids to inquire about our house cleaning services, they usually ask two questions up front:

1. What do you do?

2. How much does it cost?

That, of course, is a starting point; but both you and your potential new house cleaner will need more information, to ensure the most accurate answers…and the right fit for your situation. Let’s take a look at some of the most important things to find out.

What Do You Do During a “General Cleaning” Visit?

At Liberty Maids, for example, you should expect scrubbing and sanitizing bathrooms, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen counters and appliance exteriors, dusting and wiping exposed furniture surfaces throughout the house, sweeping and mopping hard surface floors, and vacuuming carpets.

How Much Does Your House Cleaning Service Cost?

The answer to this question factors in several considerations, including square footage and how many levels are in your home; the ratio of hard surfaces to carpeted areas; and the number of bathrooms, bedrooms and additional rooms, plus the kitchen. Are there pets in the home? How many people live there? Do you expect all rooms to be cleaned? How often do you hope to have your home cleaned? Did anyone refer you to the cleaning service?

Will I Always Have the Same Cleaner?

Many companies do consistently schedule the same cleaning technician (or team). This helps them clean your home more thoroughly and efficiently, as they familiarize themselves with your layout and needs.

What Comes Next?

Once the scope of the job has been clearly outlined, you should receive a standard pricing quote, based on your description and the frequency selected.

It then becomes easy to schedule your first cleaning visit, depending on availability in your neighborhood and the day(s)/time(s) during which your home can be available.

If you request a specific cleaning tech through a referral (an option with some companies), their schedule will be paired up with yours. You will set an initial cleaning date with your assigned cleaning technician, who will arrive with cleaning equipment, supplies and freshly laundered cleaning towels, to get your home sanitized and sparkling!

What If I Still Need More Information?

Don’t hesitate to ask about the pros and cons of weekly, biweekly or monthly cleaning schedules, as well as a price comparison. Biweekly is often the sweet spot for hiring a cleaning service, when you consider consistency and cost value, as well as less work overall on your part.
