Brad and Sandy’s Renovation Journey: A Bathroom Designed for Life

When Brad and Sandy began searching for someone to renovate their bathroom, they expected to compare prices and design ideas.

Instead, their first challenge was simply finding a contractor who would do what they promised.

One company scheduled an appointment to provide an estimate but never arrived.

“No text. No phone call. Nothing,” Brad recalls.

When they finally heard back, they were met with excuses rather than an apology. Another contractor promised to arrange a meeting but failed to communicate as expected.

After those experiences, Brad and Sandy realized they weren’t just hiring someone to renovate a bathroom. They were looking for a company they could trust.

That search led them to J&T Workforce Solutions.

From the very first meeting, the experience was different.

Rather than immediately providing a price, Taylor Fleming and Josh Derksen took the time to understand why the renovation was important and how the space could better support Brad and Sandy’s needs. Detailed design drawings were prepared before the final quote, allowing the couple to visualize the completed bathroom, ask questions, and make adjustments before construction ever began.

“It made us feel comfortable knowing exactly what we were getting,” says Brad.

The renovation wasn’t driven by style alone.

Brad’s mobility challenges had made the original bathroom increasingly difficult to use. The existing bathtub and small shower stall no longer provided the accessibility or comfort they needed. Their goal was to create a bathroom that would allow them to continue living safely and independently in their home for years to come.

Every feature was chosen with that purpose in mind.

The completed renovation included a comfort-height toilet, a grab bar inside the shower, a wider shower entrance, and a custom-built decorative bench with integrated storage that provides a convenient place to sit or steady themselves if needed.

Safety also influenced the flooring and shower design. Brad and Sandy originally requested a non-slip fiberglass shower pan. When Josh couldn’t locate one that met his quality standards, he upgraded them to a premium composite stone non-slip shower pan instead.

That commitment to quality continued throughout the project.

Whenever Brad and Sandy shared examples of finishes they liked, Taylor and Josh sourced upgraded products whenever possible, including higher-quality faucets, lighting, flooring, and other finishing details that enhanced both durability and appearance.

One small detail especially stood out to Brad.

Taylor selected a faucet with durable metal internal components rather than plastic, knowing it would provide better long-term performance.

“I appreciated that,” says Brad. “I don’t have to replace it in six months.”

Because Brad and Sandy remained in their home throughout construction, they were initially concerned about how disruptive the renovation might be.

Those concerns quickly disappeared.

Each day the work area was carefully cleaned and organized before the crew left. Dust and disruption were kept to a minimum, allowing the couple to continue living comfortably in their home while the renovation progressed.

“I could not believe they actually showed up at 8:00 a.m. to start the work,” says Brad. “Business is easy. Do what you say, say what you do.”

Taylor and Josh committed to completing the renovation in two weeks.

“They kept their word,” says Sandy.

Looking back, Brad and Sandy say the greatest part of the project wasn’t simply the finished bathroom. It was the experience.

From thoughtful planning and clear communication to quality workmanship and genuine care for their home, every stage of the renovation reinforced that they had chosen the right team.

Today, they have a beautiful bathroom that not only reflects their style but also gives them greater comfort, confidence, and independence every day.

The experience left such a positive impression that J&T Workforce Solutions has already been invited back for additional projects this fall.

For Brad and Sandy, the renovation proved that choosing the right contractor can make all the difference. Not only in the finished result but also in the journey of getting there.
