In case you missed my last article about the washing machine boxes, I wanted to circle back to that topic. This is very important because when they leak, they leak into the wall, and you can’t see it until it shows up coming up through the tile floor or onto the carpet.
By the time the leak shows up, there could be a considerable amount of water damage done inside the walls. The reason for this is because the finished tile floor is one inch above the concrete floor. That’s why the leak doesn’t show up until the damage is already done.
And by Murphy’s Law, it won’t happen on a Monday morning, it will happen on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Eve.
So just take a minute and look at the valves in the box behind the washer that the hoses are connected to. If the valves are red and blue—not the handles, but the valve body—you need to get them replaced at your earliest convenience because it’s only a matter of time before they split.
And it’s not if they split, it’s when they split, because they will.
If you’re not sure, you can take a picture and send it to me, and I will let you know if they are plastic. Or, if you can’t take a picture and send it to me, call me and I will stop by when I am in your area and take a look free of charge.
Also, this is the time of year when people get work done or upgrade things in their homes. The most important thing to remember is that YOU are the King/Queen of your Castle, and YOU are responsible for who you allow into your home to do work.
When someone shows up to do work, talk to them first to make sure that you are confident they are knowledgeable, responsible, competent and experienced enough to work in YOUR CASTLE.
If you have doubts or don’t feel confident in their ability, get someone else. YOU are the King/Queen of YOUR CASTLE, and only YOU can protect it.
