New Milford Hospital’s new Shapiro Family Physical Rehabilitation facility is the latest wave of thoughtful upgrades, bringing modern, convenient care even closer to the community.

There’s something reassuring about getting the care you need close to home, especially when that care is delivered in a setting designed around your comfort. That’s exactly what Northwell Health’s new outpatient rehabilitation facility at New Milford Hospital offers. Shapiro Family Physical Rehabilitation expands access to high-quality physical, occupational and speech therapy, so you don’t have to travel far from family, work and daily routines.

Rehabilitation designed around real life

The outpatient rehabilitation program brings together physical, occupational and speech therapy in one convenient location, giving patients access to a broad team of specialists under one roof. Care is tailored to each patient’s goals and needs, whether they are recovering from surgery, rebuilding strength after a stroke, managing a sports injury or working through balance, swallowing or cognitive changes. The facility also offers specialty care for:

  • Total joint rehabilitation
  • Neurological and orthopedic conditions
  • Hand injuries
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Vestibular disorders
  • Fall prevention

With early morning and late evening appointment options, the new facility is built to fit real life, helping busy community members prioritize their health without upending their schedules.

“Our goal is to ensure every patient feels supported, encouraged and confident from the moment they walk through our doors,” says Debra Neeb, Supervisor of Outpatient Rehabilitation at New Milford Hospital. “This new facility gives us the space, accessibility and resources to deliver highly personalized care that helps patients return to the activities that matter most to them.”

This new space was made possible by generous donors, including the Shapiro family.

A hospital growing with its community

The new rehab facility is the latest example of how New Milford Hospital is evolving to meet the needs of the community. The hospital has been making meaningful upgrades to improve access, convenience and patient experience.

Its renovated primary care office offers a refreshed space for everyday care close to home. At the updated Breast Imaging Center, patients can schedule screening mammograms, screening ultrasounds and bone density scans online, with no referral needed, removing barriers and helping everyone get important screenings on time.

Expanded options for women’s care and surgery

New Milford Hospital has also launched a Women’s Wellness Center, made possible by a

transformational $1 million gift from Margery Feldberg and Jeremy Levin, PhD, MD, as well as the Diane von Furstenberg and The Diller–von Furstenberg Family Foundation, and support from New Milford’s Julie and Robert Bailey and many other local donors. The center reflects a continued commitment to meeting women’s health needs in a connected and supportive way. At the same time, the hospital has expanded its surgical capabilities with the Mnuchin Family Surgery suite, thanks to the generosity of many people in our community, led by the Mnuchin Family. Robotic technology is used for procedures such as hernia repairs, offering many patients the benefits of less pain, smaller incisions and faster recovery.

Together, these investments reflect a hospital that is moving forward with purpose, just as our new rehabilitation facility aims to help patients keep moving, too.

New Milford Hospital is here for you
