September holds special significance at Sunrise of Lynn Valley. This year marks our 26th anniversary, and it also coincides with Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a fitting time to celebrate the community we’ve built while continuing to raise awareness about dementia and the importance of planning ahead.

For more than a quarter of a century, Sunrise of Lynn Valley has provided licensed residential care and memory care for North Shore seniors. During that time, we’ve had the privilege of supporting thousands of residents and their families through major life transitions. Our role extends beyond caring for those who live with us. We also help spouses, adult children and caregivers navigate difficult decisions with guidance, compassion and experience.

One of the strengths of our community is the people who work here. Many members of our team have been with Sunrise for decades, building lasting relationships with residents and their families. That continuity creates a sense of familiarity and trust that is especially valuable for those living with dementia. It also helps make Sunrise feel less like a care residence and more like home.

We’re proud to have been named Best Employer by the North Vancouver Chamber and to have maintained six consecutive years of zero deficiencies with Vancouver Coastal Health. Those achievements reflect the dedication of our team and reinforce the standards we strive to uphold every day.

Our Live With Purpose™ philosophy guides every aspect of community life. Residents are encouraged to stay engaged through meaningful activities, music, fitness, lifelong learning, intergenerational programs and opportunities to connect with others. The goal is simple: to support the mind, body and spirit while creating moments of purpose, joy and belonging.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month also reminds us that dementia affects entire families. Understanding the differences between independent living, assisted living, long-term care and memory care before a crisis occurs can make an enormous difference. Through education, community partnerships and ongoing advocacy, we aim to be a trusted resource for seniors and their loved ones across the North Shore.

As we celebrate our 26th anniversary, we’re grateful for the families who have placed their trust in us over the years. The values that shaped Sunrise from the beginning—compassion, meaningful relationships, innovation and a genuine sense of home—continue to guide us today. We look forward to serving North Shore families for many years to come and invite you to learn more about our memory care resources and how we can support your family’s journey.
