New Beginnings: When to Start Something New

Society places a lot of importance on January 1st for new beginnings. I don’t know about you, but New Year’s resolutions never worked for me. It is simply not the time of year that inspires me to make changes and start new projects. Why? As someone sensitive to the outside world’s noise and elements, the winter time is not when I feel the most activated to make moves and make progress.

We all move through life at our own pace and inner rhythm. With the start of new school year approaching, I cannot help but feel anticipation and feel a rise in internal life force energy as well. As a child, I always looked forward to a new school year for new beginnings and new learnings. It could also be the change to cooler weather that activates something within. This is definitely the time of year that I tend to make changes and make any big moves. This is a part of my energy cycle.

Getting to know your energy cycles throughout the year is important. Sometimes we “fail” at something new not because we are not capable, but the timing was not right or we did not give ourselves the right conditions to succeed. If you are at a loss of when to start something new or make a change, there are other cycles you can follow that provide a consistent rhythm for change. Some suggestions include:

1. New Moon cycles: these happen once a month, giving us a chance to start again each month with new intentions. Many artists and creatives worship the moon for its cycles, utilizing it for their passion projects.

2. Seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer provide us with environmental changes 4 times a year, offering us a chance to move with them. The summer season brings a very different energy and pace than the winter season.

3. Feminine flow cycle: If you are a woman reading this, you can move at the rhythm of your monthly feminine flow. This cycle deeply impacts our energy levels throughout each month. Learning how to work with this can greatly enhance the flow in our lives as well.

So when is the best time to start something new or to make a change? Of course, today is as good of a time as any. You can start over at any time, every new day, every morning and every hour. One thing I know for sure, is that we can also get inspired, learn from and work with nature’s rhythms.

If you want to learn more about your inner rhythm or need an accountability partner for your next big project or life transition, I have 8 spots remaining for the fall intake season.  Call or email me to book an exploratory call. I would love to hear from you!
