One of the things I love about living and working in this community is that life here is always moving. Families grow. Homes are updated. Kids get older. Parents help children through big milestones. Grandparents stay close. Neighbors become friends. Little by little, the life we are building changes.
Insurance is not usually the first thing people think about when those changes happen. And honestly, I understand that. When you renovate a kitchen, send a child off to college, add a new driver to the household, bring home a dog, or start working from home, your first thought is probably not, “I should review my insurance.”
But sometimes it should be close behind.
The reason is simple: your coverage should reflect the life you are actually living today, not the life you had five or ten years ago.
A finished basement may change the value of your home. A new teenage driver changes the risk in your household. A dog, pool, trampoline, or frequent guests can create liability concerns. Jewelry, collectibles, home office equipment, or other valuables may not be protected the way you assume they are. As income, savings, and assets grow, there may also be more to protect if something unexpected happens.
Most people are not careless about these things. They are busy. They are raising families, caring for parents, working hard, maintaining homes, and trying to keep up with life. Insurance often gets renewed year after year without much conversation.
That is why I encourage residents to think of their insurance review as a normal part of taking care of their household. It does not have to be complicated. Once a year, or whenever life changes in a meaningful way, take a little time to ask: What has changed in our home? Who depends on us? What have we added or improved? Are we still protected the way we think we are?
At TJM Agency, we describe our role as being lifestyle protectors. To me, that means helping people protect the life they are building — their home, family, income, future, and peace of mind.
As your neighbor and as a local business owner, my hope is that families in our community feel informed, prepared, and cared for before they ever have to face a difficult moment.
That is what good protection is really about.
