As we savor the final weeks of summer, it’s also a good time to start thinking ahead to the winter months. Many pool owners assume that once the pool is closed and the cover is secured, it can simply be left alone until spring. However, a lot can happen during those months. Freezing temperatures, heavy rain, snow, debris, and fluctuating water levels can all affect your pool while it’s closed. Small issues that go unnoticed throughout the winter can turn into much bigger, and more expensive problems by opening day.
That’s where SRG Construction’s Winter Watch service comes in.
What Does SRG’s Winter Watch Include?
Our Winter Watch visits are designed to keep an eye on your pool throughout the off-season and address potential concerns before they become bigger problems.
During each scheduled Winter Watch visit, our team will:
- Remove debris from the pool cover
- Add additional antifreeze to the skimmers as needed
- Fold back the cover to check the pool’s water level
- Lower the pool water level when necessary
- Test and balance the water chemistry*
- Inspect the integrity of the pool cover
- Replace cover anchors or springs as necessary*
- Provide one gallon of liquid shock with each visit
- Provide Winter Watch customers with 10% off in-store chemical purchases through March 1st
*Additional chemicals, cover anchors, springs, and other necessary parts are billed separately.
SRG Construction offers one-visit, four-visits, and six-visits Winter Watch options, allowing homeowners to choose the level of off-season monitoring that best fits their pool and their needs.
What Happens When a Pool Goes Unchecked All Winter?
A pool may look perfectly fine underneath its cover, but winter conditions can create problems that aren’t obvious from the backyard. When pools are left unchecked for months at a time, homeowners may discover excessive debris, improper water levels, water chemistry issues, damaged cover components, or other winter-related concerns when it’s finally time to open the pool. Instead of getting a head start on the swimming season, you may find yourself dealing with additional cleanup, chemicals, replacement parts, or repairs. Problems that could have been identified during the winter may not become apparent until the cover comes off in the spring.
The Difference You’ll Notice in the Spring
Pools that receive regular Winter Watch visits are typically better prepared when opening season arrives. Rather than waiting until spring to discover what happened during the winter, our team has been checking on your pool throughout the off-season. We’ve monitored the water level, addressed debris on the cover, checked the water chemistry, and inspected the cover and its components along the way. The goal is simple: catch the little things before they have a chance to become big things. That preventative care can mean fewer surprises, a smoother opening process, and a quicker path to getting your backyard ready for another swimming season.
From a Winter Watch Customer
“In previous years, we would open the pool in the spring to find a green mess. Now, through Winter Watch, the pool gets checked and treated throughout the winter so there are no surprises in the spring. This significantly reduces the time it takes for the pool to be swim ready — literally from weeks to days.”

Protect Your Investment Year-Round
Your swimming pool is one of the largest investments in your backyard and protecting it shouldn’t stop when swimming season ends. Think of Winter Watch as preventative maintenance for your pool. Whether you’re a first-time pool owner or you’ve enjoyed your backyard retreat for years, Winter Watch is a simple way to stay ahead of potential problems instead of discovering them when the cover comes off.
