Your Restaurant Experience Affects You More Than You Think!

People take their dining experiences seriously. That’s obviously not breaking news.

However, what I bet you don’t know is just how serious the effects of your dining experience are on your body and mind.

Before you get ahead of yourself, I’m not speaking from a nutritional standpoint. I’m speaking from a hormonal standpoint.

Studies from both ScienceDirect and the National Institutes of Health have turned back similar results.

A great experience in a restaurant—fast service with an excellent environment—can lower cortisol and increase endorphin levels to such a degree that it has a measurable impact on the rest of your day.

Conversely, a bad experience in a chaotic environment with slow service can increase cortisol levels, having a measurable impact on your anxiety and stress levels that can also last throughout the rest of your day.

Not only does your restaurant dining experience have a measurable impact on the rest of your day, but you may actually be aware of this on a subconscious level.

Have you ever noticed how much pressure you put on the decision of where to dine?

This pressure can be a direct result of the awareness you have of just how much impact your dining experience will have on your body’s hormones. This is why our reactions to both positive and negative dining experiences can sometimes be so visceral and disproportionate.

I’m not telling you this to stress you out more, but to provide a certain measure of comfort. You’re not crazy because you’re a little indecisive about where to dine—it’s perfectly normal. Your choice matters more than you may think.

More than anything, I hope you use this information to protect your peace.

This is information that has been shared with our staff at each of our locations because it’s important to know how your job impacts the people you’re serving each and every day.

I recommend you share this information with people in your life, especially if they work in the restaurant industry.

When we know better, we can do better!
