Hi, I’m Sarabeth. I’m an Equine Gestalt Coach and founder of Stable Support Coaching, located at 1800 Halls Mill Road in Hillsborough. I partner with my horses to help people reconnect with their authentic selves and move forward into greater wholeness.

But before I was a coach, I was lost.

The Mirror Moment

I remember standing in front of the mirror one night after cooking dinner, after the wine, after another week of being stressed to the max. When I looked at my reflection, I didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me.

I saw the wrinkles. The disconnection in my eyes. A stranger was wearing my face.

I was so out of touch with myself that I couldn’t even see me anymore.

That moment terrified me. Because I realized I’d been disappearing for years.

For so long, my entire identity had been wrapped up in who I was for other people. If someone asked me who I was, I would say: “I’m a mom. A stay-at-home mom. A wife. I have horses and dogs.”

But that’s not who I am. Those are the roles I play. Relationships I’m in. Things I do.

The real question—Who am I, really? —caused a pause. Because I didn’t know.

The Cost of Disappearing

I believed my whole identity was wrapped up in being the wife and mother, in my husband’s happiness, my children’s happiness, in how perfectly I could perform while still looking like I had it all together from the outside.

I completely lost myself in that.

I was short with my kids. Annoyed with my husband. Unhealthy and miserable. I realized I was simply surviving. And I was terrified that at the end of it all, when it was all said and done, no one would even know who I was—because I didn’t know who I was.

I wanted people to know me for something. For who I am. Not just the invisible person behind the scenes.

That’s when I knew something had to change.

What the Horses Taught Me

I remember spending time with my horse one day, lamenting about how much I had on my plate. My shoulders were tense, my jaw tight with the weight of keeping all the plates spinning.

My horse, sensing all of this, proceeded to roll around in the dirt—as if to say: let it go. Lighten up. Shake it off. Release what is not yours.

The horses see us for who we truly are. And they won’t connect with the performance version of ourselves. They only connect with what is real.

Gary Zukav writes: “When the personality comes fully to serve the energy of its soul, that is authentic empowerment.”

For years, my personality has served everyone else. My personality wasn’t serving my soul. And the horses could feel that incongruence immediately.

Over the past couple of years in the Touched by a Horse® program under the mentorship of Melisa Pearce, the horses have helped guide me back to my true authenticity. I’ve learned my values. My unique personality traits. What truly moves me. And I discovered my purpose lies within my own authenticity and helping people find their way back to their own.

Before I started this work, I couldn’t have told you any of that.

The Blockages We Keep Hitting

I believe everyone is on a winding path, this journey we call life—that leads us ultimately back to our light, to our authenticity. But our life experiences create blockages on that path, often stemming from some sort of trauma on varying levels.

If we don’t do the clearing work, we will continue to hit that same blockage over and over, keeping us from moving forward.

My blockage? I learned in childhood that my value as a person was tied to keeping the peace, helping others feel more comfortable at the expense of myself. So, I perfected the art of self-abandonment.

Coming into our authenticity means removing those blockages. Healing them.

This is how I view the healing work I do in partnership with my horses—simultaneously guiding you to remove blockages and walk alongside you while you walk your path back home to your true authentic self.

What Happens on the Other Side

To my surprise, when I finally started putting myself back together, the world did not crumble around me.

Better yet, my focus on myself allowed my loved ones to live more fully. My daughter started living for who she is instead of under the constant pressure of my good intentions.

I understood that I had been robbing my loved ones of the real me they were always meant to experience.

When the personality comes fully to serve the energy of the soul—that’s when we’re standing in our true authenticity. That’s when the outside matches the inside. That’s when we stop performing and start being.

An Invitation

If you feel lost, purposeless, like you don’t even know who you are anymore—if you’re staring in the mirror with disconnected eyes wondering where you went—you’re not alone.

I’d love to talk with you about how my horses and I can help guide you back home to yourself. Please reach out to schedule your free call to see if this work could be a good fit for you.
