When replacing a full arch of missing or failing teeth, understanding your treatment options is important. Full-mouth dental implants involve more than placing implants. They require careful surgical planning, restoration design and attention to how your new teeth will look, feel and function.
At Facial Designs, two specialists work together to provide comprehensive care under one roof.
Surgical Expertise
Board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Roderick VanSurksum brings more than 35 years of experience to complex surgical care. His expertise includes evaluating bone structure, placing dental implants, performing extractions and addressing bone loss.
For patients with more complex needs, treatment may involve bone grafting, advanced implant placement or zygomatic implants for severe bone loss. Sedation and anesthesia management are also important parts of surgical care.
Restorative Expertise
Once the surgical foundation is established, prosthodontist Dr. Zane Clark-Gold focuses on designing and restoring the teeth attached to the implants.
With advanced training in implant restoration, he works to create natural-looking smiles, balance bites, restore function and plan for long-term comfort and maintenance.

Why Two Specialists Matter
Having both specialists under one roof allows for direct communication and coordinated treatment planning. Rather than approaching surgery and restoration as separate procedures, Dr. VanSurksum and Dr. Clark-Gold consider the complete result from the beginning.
Personalized Treatment, Lasting Results
Every patient’s needs are different. Bone structure, oral health, existing teeth and personal goals all influence treatment recommendations.
Through Facial Designs’ Total Design!™ Teeth for Life approach, some patients can complete major implant surgery in a single day and receive temporary teeth while healing. A two-week follow-up typically follows, with final teeth developed approximately two to three months later. Timelines vary depending on individual needs.
Facial Designs also works with more than 175 referring dentists throughout Minnesota, helping patients maintain relationships with their general dentists.
Together, Dr. VanSurksum and Dr. Clark-Gold are known as the “Dr. Duo,” combining surgical and restorative expertise to help patients approach full-mouth dental implants with greater coordination, comfort and confidence.
