For April Blount, RN, becoming an aesthetic nurse injector was more than a career change. It was an opportunity to rediscover what she loved most about nursing: helping people feel better.

April’s path into aesthetics began during a time when healthcare, and the world as a whole, was changing. When COVID-19 arrived in 2020, she experienced firsthand the emotional weight carried by healthcare professionals. She lost many patients during that time, and after years of caring for people through illness and the aging process, April began to realize she was ready for something different.

She still wanted to be a nurse. She still wanted to care for people. But she wanted to find a way to use her experience and compassion in an environment centered around something positive. She wanted a career that felt fulfilling and gave her the opportunity to help people feel happy, confident, and good about themselves.

That realization ultimately led her to aesthetic medicine.

In December 2021, April took the first step toward her new career by completing aesthetic injector training through the National Laser Institute in Dallas. The transition allowed her to take the clinical skills she had developed as a nurse and apply them in an entirely different way.

Aesthetics offered the combination April had been searching for: medicine, artistry, personal connection, and the ability to help someone walk away feeling more confident than when they arrived.

It was never simply about changing the way someone looked. For April, the most rewarding part was seeing how even subtle treatments could change the way someone felt about themselves.

In March 2022, April officially joined the Regenesis team and began building relationships with aesthetic patients throughout Paris and the surrounding communities. Since then, her patient base has continued to grow beyond Northeast Texas, with clients traveling from surrounding areas and Oklahoma to see her for treatment.

Those relationships have become one of the most meaningful parts of her career.

Aesthetic medicine is personal. Patients are trusting their injector with their face, their appearance, and often insecurities they may have carried for years. Creating an environment where patients feel comfortable discussing those concerns is just as important as the treatment itself.

April understands that trust is earned. Her approach centers around listening to what each patient wants, evaluating the face as a whole, and creating a treatment plan designed to enhance rather than completely change someone’s appearance. The goal is for patients to still look like themselves, only refreshed and more confident.

Aesthetic medicine is also constantly evolving. New products, techniques, technologies, and approaches continue to change what injectors are able to offer their patients. For April, becoming an aesthetic injector did not mean completing one training course and considering her education finished.

Her initial training at the National Laser Institute provided the foundation, but continuing education has remained an important part of her career. Since beginning her journey in aesthetics, April has continued advanced training through organizations including Empire Medical Training and Texas Laser Institute. Keeping her education current allows her to learn evolving injection techniques, refine her existing skills, and stay informed as the industry continues to advance.

For April, continuing education is part of the responsibility that comes with being an injector. Every face is different. Facial anatomy, muscle movement, proportions, aging patterns, and a patient’s individual goals all influence how a treatment should be approached. There is no single treatment plan that works for everyone.

That is also what keeps the work interesting.

Each appointment requires April to combine her medical background with an aesthetic eye, considering not only the individual area being treated but how that treatment will affect the overall balance of the face.

Ask April about her favorite treatment to perform, and the answer is an easy one: Full Face Daxxify.

Rather than focusing exclusively on one isolated area, a full-face approach allows April to evaluate facial movement and create a more comprehensive treatment plan using Daxxify. Neuromodulator treatments are often associated with familiar areas such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, but a full-face treatment allows her to consider how different muscles throughout the face work together.

That comprehensive approach is one of the reasons April enjoys the treatment so much.

For her, aesthetics is about balance. The goal is not to erase every expression or make every patient look the same. It is about understanding what the patient wants, assessing their individual anatomy, and using treatment strategically to create a refreshed appearance while maintaining the characteristics that make their face uniquely theirs.

Full Face Daxxify gives April the opportunity to combine the technical side of injecting with the artistic side of aesthetics, two elements that originally attracted her to the field.

April’s career today looks very different from the nursing career she knew before 2020, but the purpose behind it remains familiar. She is still taking care of people.

The difference is that now, many of the moments she shares with patients are centered around confidence, excitement, and helping someone do something for themselves.

For some patients, an aesthetic appointment may simply be part of their normal beauty and wellness routine. For others, making that first appointment can require a great deal of courage. They may have spent years feeling self-conscious about a particular feature or noticing changes in the mirror that no longer reflect how they feel.

April gets to meet patients at each of those stages.

Sometimes the transformation is physical. Other times, the biggest difference is simply seeing a patient look in the mirror and smile.

That is the fulfillment April was searching for when she made the decision to step away from traditional patient care and enter aesthetics.

Her nursing background did not disappear when she changed specialties. Instead, it became the foundation for the way she approaches aesthetic medicine. The ability to listen, educate, care for patients, and establish trust remains just as important in the treatment room today as it was earlier in her nursing career.

Since joining Regenesis in March 2022, April has had the opportunity to grow alongside the practice while developing a loyal patient base of her own. Over the years, she has treated clients from Paris and communities throughout the surrounding region, including patients who make the trip across the Oklahoma border for their appointments.

That continued support is something she does not take lightly.

Aesthetic trends may change, products will continue to evolve, and new techniques will always emerge, but the relationship between an injector and patient remains at the center of the experience.

Patients should feel heard. They should understand their treatment. They should feel comfortable asking questions and discussing their goals without feeling pressured to become someone they are not.

For April, the best aesthetic results are not about chasing perfection. They are about helping patients feel good when they look in the mirror.

What began during one of the most difficult periods in healthcare ultimately led April to a career she may not have otherwise discovered. The losses she experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to reconsider what she wanted the next chapter of nursing to look like. She knew she still wanted the human connection that had drawn her to healthcare, but she wanted to experience that connection in a different way.

Aesthetics gave her that opportunity.

From beginning her injector training in Dallas in December 2021 to joining Regenesis just a few months later, April has continued building a career focused on education, technique, relationships, and confidence.

Through ongoing training with Empire Medical Training and Texas Laser Institute, April remains committed to evolving alongside an industry that never stands still. She continues learning new techniques and refining her approach so she can provide her patients with thoughtful, individualized care.

Nearly five years after beginning her journey into aesthetic medicine, the reason behind what she does remains remarkably simple.

She wanted to continue helping people, just in a different way.

Today, she gets to do exactly that, helping patients throughout Paris, the surrounding communities, and Oklahoma feel more confident in themselves, one treatment at a time.
