Retirement should be an opportunity to enjoy the life you have worked hard to build. But reaching that point often requires navigating important decisions involving Social Security, taxes, investments, estate planning and retirement income.

For more than four decades, Frank Tehel has helped individuals, families and business owners throughout Hampton Roads better understand those decisions and prepare for their financial futures.

Frank Tehel, CFP®, EA, is the President, CEO and Senior Portfolio Manager of October Effect, Ltd., a Virginia Beach-based registered investment adviser. His extensive background includes fee-based financial planning, investment management, retirement-income planning, portfolio coordination, multigenerational estate planning, business succession planning and tax planning.

Frank began working in business and personal financial planning after earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Old Dominion University in 1975. He became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 1982 and an Enrolled Agent in 1983. His additional education and professional credentials reflect his continuing commitment to understanding the financial, investment and tax considerations that can affect a client’s future.

At October Effect, financial planning begins with listening. Frank believes that understanding a person’s goals, family circumstances, concerns and vision for retirement is essential before recommending a financial strategy.

That relationship-focused approach has helped Frank build lasting connections with clients across Hampton Roads.

Making Retirement Education More Accessible

October Effect also presents complimentary educational seminars designed to make complicated retirement topics easier to understand.

Led by Frank, these community seminars explore subjects such as:

  • How retirement income may affect the taxation of Social Security benefits
  • How IRA withdrawals, pensions and investment income work together
  • Common retirement-planning mistakes to recognize early
  • Questions to consider before claiming Social Security
  • Strategies for coordinating investments, taxes and retirement income

The seminars are intended for people approaching retirement, recently retired or already receiving Social Security who want to better understand the decisions ahead of them.

Frank’s goal is not to overwhelm attendees with financial terminology. Instead, he explains important concepts in a clear and approachable way, giving participants useful questions to consider as they evaluate their own retirement strategies.

October Effect regularly offers these seminars at community locations throughout Hampton Roads, including the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library in Virginia Beach. Attendance is free, although advance registration is requested because seating may be limited.

For information about the next available seminar, visit October Effect’s seminar page or call 757-390-3341.
