This Month’s Smile: Why Did the Seller and Buyer Refuse to Pass the Turkey at Thanksgiving?

  • Copied!

Because the seller wanted a “highest and best” offer just for the drumstick… and the buyer insisted on a contingency clause in case the stuffing was dry!

For anyone who has bought or sold a home with a contingency, you may appreciate that one!!

Thanksgiving actually has a lot in common with Real Estate.

There’s usually a full table, plenty of opinions, a little negotiation, someone who wants more…and hopefully, everyone walks away happy!

But This Season, It’s Really About Gratitude

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, our team is reminded that Real Estate is about so much more than bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, contracts, and closing dates.

It’s about RELATIONSHIPS.

It’s about helping someone find the home where the Thanksgiving turkey will be carved.

It’s about helping a longtime homeowner decide that the house that once held a growing family may no longer fit the life they’re living today.

It’s about welcoming someone new to Riverland and watching them discover that they didn’t just purchase a home—they became part of a community.

And sometimes, it’s simply about being there when someone asks, “What should my next move be?”

Those are the conversations we value most.

YOU Are One of Our Blessings

To our clients who have trusted us with one of life’s biggest decisions—Thank You.

To those who have referred a friend, neighbor, family member, or even the person you met while walking the dog—Thank You.

And to our Riverland neighbors who stop us to say hello, ask a Real Estate question, share what’s happening in the community, or simply catch up—Thank You.

Your trust is something we never take for granted.

Home Is More Than an Address

Especially at Thanksgiving, we’re reminded that the true value of a home can’t always be measured by comparable sales.

Sometimes its greatest value is found around the kitchen table.

It’s the extra chair pulled up for a guest. It’s grandchildren running through the house. It’s neighbors becoming friends. It’s laughter coming from the kitchen and someone sneaking a taste before dinner is ready.

Those are the things that make a house a home.

So this Thanksgiving, whether your table is set for two or twenty, we hope your home is filled with good food, great memories, plenty of laughter—and absolutely no negotiations over the drumstick!

From our Real Estate family to your family, Happy Thanksgiving, Riverland!

We are truly grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.

And remember, when you’re ready for your next chapter—whether you’re buying, selling, downsizing, building, or simply wondering what your home is worth—we’re always happy to have the conversation.

No contingency clause required.
